Yeah. That's a point in the game's favour because spess mareehns, loyalist or heretic, are actually a big fuckin' deal to anyone who's fighting against them. Having it be one of the first few major boss fights since the chaos spawn in the Prologue really sold it.

Combine that with the fact he can potentially KO your party members down with a single burst or stun them with his kick adds to it.

It's great. Most games are RTS so they die by the dozen.
Here the simple presence of a CSM makes everyone think it's fucking over, even Jimmy. Even after the battle they're like "this is a fucking miracle".
His salvo always pretty much means one of your guys will go down. I think they should've made him more dangerous in melee, his kick, while cool, is pretty weak. You send three melee guys at him and he's locked down for the remainder of the fight.

There's a lot of conflicting data on this achievement, but here is how I got it:

Play the game with the flute player, ask all the questions about him, play fair the first time, then cheat the second time. I'm pretty sure this is one of the key decisions. Play along with the game then participate in the cheating, but don't stop the game, just show that you "get it".

Don't give tickets to the beggars until they follow you as a group, then give them a stack.

Iconoclast option when dealing with the burned man, then also stop the burning. I'm pretty sure this is one of the key decisions.

Say you're not going to kill the jumper yourself, he killed himself.

Stop the fight between the enforcer and the laborer. I had a unique dialogue option from having the bravery backstory and I chose it. I'm pretty sure this is one of the key decisions.

Gave the old guy a piece of food and asked about his life, but did not pursue info about the weapons. I just walked away after a few dialogues about himself.

Take the food and eat it, pass the test to not throw up, and then say something to the crowd. I also have him a stack of cards to distribute. I'm pretty sure this is one of the important decisions too.

The achievement popped after eating the food and saying something to the crowd.

I then went back and inquired about the weapons which started the fight, after I already had the achievement.

So my theory is:
Don't get the old guy killed
Eat the food
Stop the flamethrowers
Stop the fight and say one of the relatable options, so not the philosphical one that the rabble don't understand and not the one that is just a hardass.

I eliminated a few of the guesses I read online as well. I definitely looted every single possible container, so that's not a factor. The achievement popped before I passed under the train towards the mutant area, so nothing in that area matters. And I was only Icono rank 1, so you don't need to be higher rep.

I figure something like the average Imperial Guard regiment has no idea what those are for, so they just leave them untouched as just "some xeno artifact, whatever, don't mess with it" and later they just get picked up by rangers.

Also you reminded me of this one cool fan comic where a White Scars marine fights a squad of Howling Banshees, and he manages to kill their exarch by sacrificing a hand to drop a grenade at their feet and then run out before she realizes. But then the other surviving Banshee is horrified because she realizes the blast cracked the exarch's soul stone so all the exarch souls just got nommed by Slaanesh.

Right now I'm bouncing between icon and dogmatic. I've been RP as a youth from Nocturne who dreamed of becoming a Salamander but when his psychic powers kicked in he was taken by the black ships to undergo sanctioning.

So I'm playing as a sort of "good guy". I'll try to avoid senseless death but I won't shy from it if the moment calls for it. I blew up Rykard Prime, I refused to let Heinrix use the chaos tech, I stepped into the fire at the beginning.

My char is hard against chaos, neutral towards xenos with preferential privilege given to my retinue (Idira, Hein and Argenta are legit one of my favorite teammates this run). So he's not a black/white type of guy.

anyway, what exactly happens after I get past the alignment lock? I've been taking options based on how I feel my character would react not just blindly clicking the trait I want

I'd say the real benefit of the BH is the free turns and not the damage so I don't compare it to assassin. I use it with Pasqal so that he can constantly buff/debuff and kill machines when other people hunt his prey for him
