The translator had to pick between Sinners and Prisoner because in Korean they're the same word. Both the concept of them being prisoners and them being sinners is core to LCB, but Sinner in English is perhaps too harsh for them. However, it's not like the translator had the foresight of knowing how blameless many of the Sinners would be later in the story, so going for 'Sinner' over 'Prisoner' right at the start of the game was the right call because it sounds cooler.
