The music is very unique, but it's hard to fall for. It definitely doesn't stack up to Persona. I feel similar about the characters, where they feel more "real" than the Persona characters, but outside of a few standouts like Heismay, they feel more boring as well. The manga makes them more generic, but also more fun. I know a lot of people don't like the changes it made to Will since he's supposed to be the Prince's idealized self, but the manga's take is just more fun than the game's because he has more emotional range and is allowed to be a bit of an asshole.

Metaphor was mind opening for me, I was in awe from start to finish. The polish, the grace, the willingness to spray blood everywhere and be completely open with the PEOPLE ARE BEING KILLED HERE feeling of dread that the Modern Persona games just love to avoid.

The constant message of "Anxiety is a natural thing to have, but it's when it takes over you when it becomes a problem." is something a lot of people need to hear. I particularly love the distinction between fantasy and escapism. The idea that fantasy can be used to usher in new ideas and thought, but how it can also be used to cause people to embrace escapism instead of facing their problems head on.

The combat and UI is buttery smooth, and I just adore all the characters and their voices. I love that everyone has very adult problems, even if they are young (minus Grius and Heismay of course). Unlike SEES, IT, and the PT the characters in Metaphor never have a moment of WE'VE GOT THIS. They've essentially accepted that they're in a suicidal mission that could have them killed at a moment's notice if they aren't at their best at all times.

But at the same time, they're still people. Strohl's humorous reaction to having to crawl out of a worm's butt, Hulkenberg's voracious appetite, Heismay having to constantly remind people that he can't fly. Even villains get on it, I found myself to tears when Joanna was released from her melancholia thanks to Heismay and fully grasped that her son was gone because of racist superstition.

It's just....I love this game so much. I've almost finished platinuming it. Persona in comparison is.... nothing.

can confirm, the last music played was 荒野を往く者/traversing the wastes but with all the vocals (ie including the kid of ode to heroes and the woman of the virga island themes) and it was fantastic desu, the audience was captivated
speaking of the virga island themes (both day/night), it was my favourite performance i think, still unsure how she managed to pull it off alone
anyway overall everyone seemed to have enjoyed the concert, pretty much everyone praised it and so many people bought the pamphlet thing during the interval or after it ended

Music is the only thing you're right about. Meguro is a good composer when he's in his element, but orchestral music is not it. It's been evident since Strange Journey that Meguro really struggles with orchestral music. Metaphor's tracks fit and are pleasant sounding enough, but lacks the complexity and memorability that the genre tends to have (you'll notice a lot of the best songs are rather simple compositionally). This is especially noticeable with some of the music meant to be dramatic, as Meguro particularly seems to have trouble creating heavier music (the awakening music is a good example of this). Compare anything from this soundtrack to say, something like EOV from Trails of Cold Steel 2 and it becomes incredibly apparent; despite the latter not having the benefit of live orchestration beyond vocals like this score it manages to feel much more dense, dynamic, and imposing. Overall it's just okay score. It's serviceable, but doesn't really excel. I do find a lot of people saying it's the best sountrack Atlus has ever produced on here, and it's kinda hard for me to agree.
