Basically the thought starts with the fact that a key visual feature of Papyrus is his bright red scarf. And the cute character moment of Papyrus giving Flowey a ribbon in the alarm clock dialog.

My theory is that Ralsei is going to be at his lowest emotional moment in chapter 5. And Papyrus absurd optimism is gonna help him out of his funk. But I also think Papyrus will be hanging with the friendly seeming Golden Flower, who's gonna be subtly trying to crush Ralsei's self worth. Golden Flower is gonna snap when his negative influence is completely undone by Papyrus positive influence, start a big boss fight with hostages. It's obvious that the actions we take should affect Kris's life. Kris wouldn't have gotten closer to Susie if we didn't lead Kris to the closet in Chapter 1. We didn't mind-control Kris into liking Susie (or Susie into liking Kris for that matter), that's just one of the outcomes of the effect that we've had on Kris's life. People change when they interact with each other, that is an unavoidable fact of life. And having played a Toby Fox game and knowing how he feels about games, he earnestly believes that just as you can affect a game, the game can affect you. Our relationship with Kris is not one-sided, no matter how unequal it might feel.
The weird thing isn't that Kris's feelings about Ralsei would change after these Chapters, it's that this line of code is in the game at all, even if it's unimplemented.

I can understand that, but it doesnt solve my problem. Pushing Kris and Susie together to a degree is something we are forced to do, we arent making the choice to have Kris and Susie go in the closet together over just kris alone. And with them in particular, its clear Kris likes her from the beginning so doing stuff like the diner or trying to get him to speak his mind feels more like helping him along rather than pushing my own wants onto him. Whether or not Kris and Ralsei grow closer is still determined by us and not him, and that does not sit right with me. If he was to get closer with Ralsei, it shouldnt hinge on a single dialogue prompt, especially one so blantantly obvious about its motives. The only reason anyone would pick keep smiling is to intentionally shit on Ralsei even without knowing the tea change or if youre japanese and read too much shonen. If it was a less A or B type choice, like attending the tea party in chapter 4 than itd feel more natural of a change to have happen to him, but even if we arent literally mindcontrolling him to like the femboy it's still determined purely by us whether or not he likes him more, because the choice presented before it makes it very clear what the intent is
