Maekawa is just as terrible as Flynn. He wrote Tails and Amy like they didn't know each other despite the fact they were established as knowing each other and competing in the classic era.

Both of these talentless hacks hate the basic Sonic vs Eggman dynamic that made the series popular in the first place. Maekawa wanted to redeem Eggman after SA2, and the only time he came close to writing a proper Sonic vs Eggman story, it was actually Metal Sonic in disguise (Heroes).

Flynn does the exact same shit. He admitted on Bumblekast that he actively avoids writing Sonic fighting Eggman because he prefers 'complex storytelling', and he constantly deflects to half-baked secondary villains. Sometimes making Eggman a reluctant ally.

They both create OCs that completely step on existing characters' toes. Shadow was literally designed to replace both Knuckles as the rival AND Metal Sonic as the dark reflection of Sonic. He also stole Tails' role as Sonic's friendly rival who could meet and surpass his potential by being important with Chaos Control, something Maekawa bullshited and only allowed his own OC and Sonic to use. Sidlining the original player 2.

Tangle does the same shit. She's supposed to be the "tough girl" but she takes Amy and Cream's place.

Most importantly, both of them want to completely change what Sonic IS.
Flynn wants to turn mainline Sonic into his shitty SatAM fanfiction with muh Freedom Fighters and war stories. Maekawa wants to turn Sonic into some isekai anime bullshit. Neither of them actually wants to write SONIC stories. They want to write their own original nonsense.
Maekawa wants to make Sonic like a fucking Michael Bay movie, he was inspired by Armageddon to write SA2's nonsensical plot.

Flynn and Maekawa are the same type of pretentious hack, one just has nostalgia protection because he wrote during the "golden age."

What we got isn't the Ultimate version of Colors. A proper Sonic Colors Ultimate would have:

The dialogue was funny and cute. Sonic's characterization was on point. It was nice seeing him drag Yuuta around. I like Sonic drawing, it was a very cute character trait. Sonic being an artist is an absolute favorite trope of mine.
I know it's incredibly unlikely but if Cream or Sally appear in the manga I'll be very pleased.

Prime Amy x Prime Tails suddenly doesn't look like a crack ship. At least in that universe. The fact that she looks and sounds less angry and more just tired of his bullshit is the cherry on top.

The theme of Sonic Prime is about the bonds you have with people. Sonic has a lot of bonds he doesn't care about in the beginning of the show. The whole idea with that scene is that Amy values their bond. Sonic does not. Amy is offended by this.
Sonic is then tossed into several worlds where he has no bonds. He most form new bonds. Sonic is routinely punished across the show for taking the bonds he had for granted.
For some reason, this Sonic is socially retarded and must learn that bonds go both ways and he can't just project his bond with the "original" onto the new one.
He doesn't learn this fully until the second to last episode.

Tails is Sonic's closest bond. Therefore "this" Sonic assumes that every incarnation of Tails should have output for the same input. Sonic disregards all of Nine's antisocial and cruel behavior because he's "A Tails".
The entire last season is a repetitive cycle of Sonic saying "this isn't you!". Eventually he realizes that is in fact, him. Your bond with someone is special and you cannot take it for granted.
The show drills this message into the viewer's head over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Why is everyone praising manga Sonic? He doesn’t come across as a cool guy, but as someone very, very weird. Sonic does have a full range of emotions, but other people don't see them. To Sally he would come across as a thing. He just grins and flies around having fun and spreading joy around the world, but there is nothing behind those eyes. He doesn't debate. He doesn't whine. He doesn't show humanity.
