Modded Kuro II's BGM. First of all I noticed that it shares many tracks with Kai, but the latter are 192K (I think they really sound better).

I replace the tracks by renaming the old files to ".op_s" and creating a symlink (with the original name) to the replacement track.

So far, I changed the music plaiyng during the Märchen Garten boss fights to Inevitable Struggle; the standard battle theme to Märchen Garten's (Regain the Administration), and ed92272 (playing during the optional Shizuna fight against Shizuna on Nemeth) to ed97220.

I think Cold Steel has more "dogshit" characters than Calvard or any other arc because there are so many of them and the development they get differs wildly. But in most cases I don't mind or get frustrated they are barely developed or have a character at all because nothing presented to me in the games about them made me want to know more about them.
Calvard has a cast smaller in size than all of Class VII, they are introduced gradually instead of most at once, and Daybreak clearly sets things up with most of them that it has left unresolved. So despite the quantity of "dogshit" characters being more in CS, I don't really get mad, frustrated or disappointed about it.

Currently about halfway(?) done with Memories of Celceta, and it's not really winning me over. The characters are a little boring, music's somehow not as good as the previous game or Felghana's for that matter, and the combat, despite being a lot smoother than Seven's, feels a little weightless. If it weren't for the hitstops every time you get a kill with a skill I'd say it were completely flat. Crafting makes no sense to me, it was simple but effective in Seven, why did they have to make it so overly complicated in this game? Also the story's kinda bad, but Ys clearly isn't a "story" series so I'm less inclined to give a shit about it. I don't know what Falcom planned to do with Kincaid in Kuro 1 and 2 but it legit feels like they had no idea until Kai. I think if I had to pinpoint the biggest flaw in Calvard is that it doesn't really feel like there many throughlines from one game to the next. Kincaid, Gramheart, Hamilton etc are just not really properly built up in Kuro 1 and 2 so when they finally become relevant in Kai you just don't really feel the way you should. What else is there to talk about the Calvard arc anyway? Unlike the ending of CS3 where we still had so many to discuss on what we could think of for CS4, we barely have anything for Kai 2. Because we still have so many unanswered questions for Van alone, his party members are sidelined, Rean's plot is a sequel hook, Kevin and the Picnic shitters have most of the important lore dump, and even the finale and the final boss don't even need to have Van in it. Hell, you could literally take Van out of the finale and it wouldn't even change a damned thing. The payoff games I always enjoy less becuase you're just spending 95% of the game going through the exact same maps you've already all over again with no changes. The story promises that it will have high stakes and then nothing ends up happening until the end anyway. At least in the setup games you're establishing characters and exploring a new land so the pacing doesn't feel as glacial as it does in the payoff games. The longer the series went on the more I realized that I kind of dislike how this series is made and really wish each arc was just one game.

I only enjoy payoff games because Ouroboros decides to show up and do their thing
