Okay, let's imagine abyss gets a 1-drop that guarantees 1 face damage to the enemy, such as a 1/1 with a 1 burn damage last words, storm or whatever else, as well as a 2pp stormer with 2 damage and a 3pp stormer with 2 damage.
Go second, turn 1 play the 1pp -> 1 damage total to the enemy.
They clear, turn 2 play the 2pp stormer -> 3 damage total.
They clear, turn 3 play the 3pp stormer -> 5 damage total.
They clear, turn 4 coin out Charon, evolve a stormer to face -> 10 damage total.
They clear, turn 5 Charon, evolve a stormer to face -> 15 damage total.
They clear, turn 6 coin out Odin sevo -> 22 damage total.
If they don't play a ward and you curve out, you just win by turn 6.
Things get dicier with wards and/or heals.
If they get to play Aether, you just lose, so you have to just mindlessly push face damage and ignore everything else before they reach their Aether turn.
Silvers and bronzes may yet save Abyss!

Patch cadence and balance philosophy seems to be catered towards maintaining close but distinct tiers which caters towards tournament players but not towards casuals.

Shadowverse still expects you to log in and play every single day which can be annoying if you are feeling lukewarm about it (which isn't a problem now when the game is new but might be in the future).
Master Duel's battle pass being very fast to complete (with no weekly or daily caps) also lends itself really well for month long breaks. You can take a 1-3 month break and after returning, by just playing a handful of matches, you will have a decent amount of resources to get back on track. It also helps that most months have lower power or gimmick events. Meanwhile in Shadowverse basically every event is just the equivalent of DC Cup for Master Duel (ie. competitive ranked with extra steps).
