Dusted off my Switch for the first time in ages and was surprised at how shitty it looked in docked mode, way worse than I remembered. Turns out it was my TV's sharpness setting, something with the postprocessing filter it adds on top of the dynamic resolution switching turned it into a shitty mess whenever it happened, looks much better after I turned that down to 0.

Well, obviously Switch game graphics aren't going to be winning any rewards either way but thought it worth mentioning if anyone had a similar experience...

No news yet on this. AFAIK there's no way to dump Switch 2 carts right now

You can try inserting it and ignoring prompts to update the software. If it shows a Launch Software button you can play it just fine.

Do you mean the Switch fw day one update? If so then it's basically a must to enable the console for use. Without it you can't do much but open the album or settings.
As for the SD card patch, You can use regular SD cards only to transfer media from your Switch 1, the Switch 2 will not use them otherwise. For games, you must use the new SD Express cards.
In either case, FAT32 SD cards work without an update. But if you use an exFAT card, the Switch will prompt you for an update before it can read it. This is not a firmware update, it's only exFAT drivers/licenses/whatnot. However, if your system is not on the latest FW, it will also do a FW update.

I've been running cfw and a theme on my sys for years with no ban. But this override config is new. Logically it should matter because the override is for a title that doesn't exist on my sys and even then title override doesn't cause bans to my knowledge. most people from what I remember reading use syscfw for transferring saves, themes, maybe mods for single player games or stuff like that, and they've yet to be banned. I'm not guaranteeing anything though so be sure to check for yourself. On the other hand if you blatantly cheat online or go online with pirated games, expect a ban soon.

sysnand stock and sysnand cfw share the same stuff, it's all on your console. Booting into sys cfw only means you "turned on" atmosphere and homebrew for sysnand and you can do anything on it, including installing pirated games. However, you installed it to your system's files, instead of using an emunand, where all pirated shit should go (if you care about not getting banned).
If you plan on not getting banned, I'd suggest you restore a nand backup from before hax, and then use emunand only for installing pirated games

I ordered a microsd slot replacement, but I can't get the screws open, they seem really stuck and they are very easy to strip.

NTA but you should know there are different sizes of triwing screws and drivers, maybe you're using a smaller one. Either way, what I always try is to press the scredriver hard into the screw and just try to barely nudge it to "unlock it", then I carefully finish unscrewing it slowly. This plus the rubber band trick may help along with the new driver
