This. Trend chasing is not evolution or innovation. And not every new feature improves the gameplay of a game just because it's new or different. Even the grapple shot, which is one of the highlights of Halo Infinite's 'innovations' isn't a proper innovation, it's copied from other games. And it's not implemented in a particularly unique way. You can't use it to swing or hang from anything due to its lack of proper rope physics, making its function limited to pointing at a location to get their faster and/or steal a vehicle. It could be fun if it let you swing like Tarzan, but you have to use a workaround by using the momentum you get from being reeled in and then letting that launch you, but that's not as fun. You have some leeway in terms of shifting your angle as you're grappling, but again, its very limited and doesn't feel as good as it should, and it 'breaks' when you move too fast or the angle is too deep from the original grapple point. The rope is too stiff, basically, and needs proper physics.

I believe that both should retcon the health system of the original games to use health packs with no regenerative health period. I also believe that this should carry over to Halo "7" singleplayer as well. You could try one of the many mods for it. I recommend the dynamic lighting mod if you want to play vanilla, or if you want more content/surprises, there's Halo 2 Uncut. There's also Ruby's Rebalanced Halo 2, but he's remaking it so it will be a while, but it looks really interesting. He's trying to make the comabt style/pacing closer to CE by adding healthpacks and rebalancing the combat around having Ce's type of health system.

The DMR is similar to the Covenant Carbine but I like the human aesthetic of the DMR. Chunky metal ammo noises. I like that. Also I think the Concussion Rifle and Needle Rifle aren't similar to previous guns. The Needle Rifle can cause supercombines like the Needler but it's only a semi-auto, and its bullets hit the target much quicker

Combat Evolved but I love Halo 2 pretty closely. I can realistically play CE every day if the opportunity presents itself. Two Betrayals is peak imo. If I could have a dream come true it would be 8-player co-op in CE (i know it's kind of possible but a more workable mod would be ideal). Halo 3 I have a lot of respect for and at the end of the day it's probably still the overall best Halo Multiplayer even if I prefer how "tight" 2 feels to play, and 2's maps are peak.
The only Halo experiences I find next to zero value in are 5's Campaign and 4's Spartan Ops. I can "tolerate" 4 mp or 5 mp if other people want to engage with it, and I think Infinite's mp is actually kind of underrated, especially at this point. Memes aside, Reach is unironically just fine.

You're getting expanded levels, new levels added in-between, a bridging of gaps between Halo CE and Halo 2 along with modern gameplay, yes, Chief is sprinting, sliding, and clambering in this game. I'm also expecting gameplay content that was planned for Infinite but cut to be put in this remake. It will also follow the same story with some updated lore and probably some connection to Infinite era content.
