We have made a grand caravan to go far away to the closes settlement. We managed to tame donkeys to make travel faster but it'll still take 6 days in total for them to return home, mening the base will be grossly endangered in the meantime. Hopefully nothing bad happens.
We are carrying obscene amounts of manufactured and looted clothing, some wooden sculptures, spare leathers and many foxes (I choose to believe the foxes will be well cared for and loved), and in exchange we'll hopefully get a fuck ton of components.

STORY TOLD
Gravships are very fun but I think they're best used as a big away team caravan instead of an actual base unless you're planning on doing a full on nomad run. Just using it for trade runs, mining expeditions, questing, etc is the superior way to play. And if things on your home tile ever get too bad, you can always just pack up your Gravship and escape.
You just lose out on too much by not having an actual colony on the ground, normal colonies have a charm and personality that you cant replicate with a gravship. You essentially cant make use of any of the other dlcs because you just dont have the space on the ship.
Also its just cooler having a main base of operations that you can park your spaceship at.

You can build 4 small ones and 6 big ones.
If you have both fuel optimizers, then one large fuel tank is enough, if not - build two.
So far, never had a situation where I had to jump right after landing, but as a precaution you can add another fuel tank as those can take some time to refuel depending on your crew composition.

Palatina is pregnant. It feels kind of weird making a non-Kitt colony, with people getting pregnant only once in a while instead of at every possible opportunity. I remember having to rush out of tribal stage specifically so I could research fertility procedures to avoid having a ~10+ people colony at the second year of the game.
In other news, an incredible quest just showed up. Some prisoner fuck nobody cares about musst be kept for 14 days but, most interestingly, a 3x size mech cluster will spawn which, to be fair, is pretty scary, but we also get motherfucking 10 cataphracts to fight them off. Severely tempted to accept this quest for the goodwill alone, as it will push me to the ally threshold with the empire, not to mention the vast resources I'll likely get off the mechs.

How feasible is an autonomous colony?
If you disable pauses on alerts and set your pawns up with everything they need for their automatic behavior to keep them alive, maybe with a huge stockpile for them to fill while you go afk, can a colony go indefinitely or will stuff like kids hitting growth stages eventually pause the game?

Say, 7 pawns that heal any major damage, don't age, and can't have kids, and the game doesn't throw raids.
I would expect the real problem to be things like meteors slowly eating away at your farms and woodlands. You can't rely on hydroponics because nothing that relies on anything more advanced than wood and maybe stone blocks (thanks to auto-repair) can be automated. Eventually you run out of plasteel, steel, silver, etc and can no longer repair damaged machinery.
Then again, suppose one were to build up a stockpile of 100k steel and several thousand each of the other materials needed for components. You could probably seal yourself into a cave and dodge most natural disasters for years. Infestations would be an issue but if your pawns are all archotech monsters with 20 melee or something they could probably put down any infestations as they happened.

His plant mods are okay if you like to rotate your crops (and in this case the bloat is somewhat positive)
Spycast expanded is the only mod current on the workshop that makes Spycasting cool and fun to play around.
Animals expanded (the core module) is fine if you want a mod that adds a lot of different animals
Memes and dryads Expanded are almost mandatory if you like Ideology
Genies, highmates, and piggers are good.
Weapons expanded (the core module) is okay if you just want lots of new shit without caring too much for the specifics (his tribal weapons mod is mandatory for tribal runs)
At the very least these are good.
Some are bloat but fun if you are going to play a specific playthrough (Wasters, Waste animals, Insectoids expanded, medieval)
And he usually keeps his shit up to date unlike faggots like the CE guys or the RJW Niggers.

Combat Extended is not a cheat mod. Only the early game becomes easier, even then it's a rush to unlock ammo crafting ASAP. Mechanoids are buffed so hard you can't possibly think the game is easier overall.

Someone was asking about the duel event with ideology that you get with either raider or supremacist and I tried to give them ranged guns but they don't seem to use them. I guess Tynan disabled that because of course they'd just shoot their captives? Either way two really wounded prisoners missing organs makes for a terrible duel. The healthier they are and if one dies during it makes the event spectacular and your colonists gain a lot of melee experience and great moods.

>>531832048You might be at max colonists if that is happening. Cassandra has a low limit and once it is hit enemies will die instantly no matter what. You can use psychic lances though or capture them using other methods.

I found a non-senescent gene pack right after giving a pawn a nuclear stomach. It says it blocks carcinomas, so does that mean I can use that gene pack along with a metabolic instability gene pack to end up with +1 metabolism and nullify the cancer risks from the nuclear stomach and instability?
Do these gene packs replace genes your pawn already has or does it just get added on top of what you already have?

Genes are in two layers, endogenes(bottom, innate) and xenogenes(top, from a xenogerm), xenogenes will override endogenes if there's a conflict(i.e you have strong immunity in endo but weak/very weak/super/perfect immunity in xeno, the xenogenes take priority), but any non-conflicting genes from either of them will be active simultaneously

Kindleskin and good plants skill of course for all of them. I don't know if you could implement a rain caller ability easily for countering droughts.
