Took me about 18-20, I play games at a fairly middle of the road pace, getting collectables that are "on the way" or only a little off the beaten path, and getting sidetracked a little, but not trying to fully complete an area or anything before moving on and trying to keep the pacing the story is providing.
What really helped was how many layers werent shown in the trailer. I remember playing odyssey and getting past the food kingdom and going "alright we're finally out of trailer stuff finally onto the new stuff" and then it was just bowsers castle and the moon and the game ended, Bananza felt basically exactly as long as I was hoping it would be, maybe they could have added 1 extra smaller layer between burger land and forbidden zone but thats about as far as I'd go.
