When I first tried IV back in like 2014 I only played up to chapter 2 before losing interest for years until I was on a big DQ kick in 2018.
I remember chapter 5 actually really shocked me, cause for all that time I had thought I would set out from my village all hunky dory when the story got back to the hero.

kek, that takes me back. When I got the ship I was so damn lost for days and days. Made my party quite strong though and while sometimes I felt a bit exasperated, it was also fun to truly lose myself in a fantasy world and try to explore and navigate it. What a wonderful game.

If it were somehow a brand new remake, I might play it, but as it is I already passed on 3DS in favor of PS1 when I had to buy a physical copy cause my emulator couldn't progress past the crab boss early on. I really didn't like how they cut content in 3DS, particularly the first dungeon and all the buildup that made me fall in love with the game quickly in the first place.

The timing would be crazy though, cause I have been in the mood to replay VII lately.

Even as a stone cold 7 hater I think that was a stupid decision. It's still a long and slow game, and if anything the 3D overworlds emphasize even more how linear and repetitive most of it is. At least with the intro it felt like it was on purpose.
