its interesting how some of the choices in BH that get you closer to the couple end tend to worsen Thiu's health or social life. there's getting the candy instead of something healthy (stops thiu from learning he likes fish), leaving the store early (cuts off a positive interaction between vivian and thiu where she gives him anti-anxiety tea). in general the couple end is one that cuts off thiu's ability to get mixed up in this wizard friend group, and also cuts off any resolution for those characters. idk what she meant by this but theres something there

The marriage end is Thiu embracing his own world with his better half, and enjoying the love of someone who literally is not only part of him, but who gets him wholeheartedly. Thiu life was at rock bottom, so this is him trowing all away and never looking back. Halved ending seems like a failed state version of marriage to me, because is technically the same, but not as fulfilling, and unresolved. The merge ending is a middle ground, as Thiu get back on track on the world, and every character find a resolution on his own, but still feels bleak, like Thiu running against the grain with what's ahead of him. If i have to pick one ending, i like the Marriage ending the most, considering that across the story, the sad half realize hope for the future, and the happy one gets bleak but grounded, in hapiness to its fullest extention, in a short life, Thiu not only have hope to improve and start anew, but also to live the happier he's ever been without a care in the world; its the ideal outcome imo.
Either way, every ending hit the spot with one thing tho: That Thiu's decision to split himself is something that he will never regret doing. Damn good story.

Semi related, but a Wizard centered story by Nemlei would be nice. Generally in Nemlei stuff, the actual people with direct agency over magical abilities are second hand, while the heroes have partial access over the source of power (Lynn is devote to a dark god, A&A made deals with demons, Thiu hires a rouge Mage, Jack contacts a Witch for the Dream Caster). The only exception is NGN, and partly Candy Scabs. It would be cool to see some sort of story where characters tap into magic, and rise above their misery while their choices using their powers halt to a division between their personal lives and the world at large. I think it could be immensely interesting.

What Andrew lacks in contrast to the others is resolve. These characters are unapologetic about everything they do and who they are, and even when they have to make a decision that conflicts with that, their integrity remains. Andrew is probably the youngest of them, and from the bunch, his life prior to demon intervention was the most mundane, so i think it fits. Although, Andrew in Burial seems to measure up to the others; no holds barrels, no regrets, no quarrels, just the simplicity of going along with the shadows.
