Another year has passed and it is once again time for the day of Kaoru birth.
I've been motivated to accomplish so many things this year I never thought I could, purging some of the self-negativity from my attitude that had prevented me from doing things I had wanted to do for a decade. Because of that, the first half of the year was full of fear and doubt, but ultimately everything worked out, and I am filled with a new resolve to work hard and support and enjoy this franchise. I will remember and cherish seeing Himawari Mark o Sagase!, SUNFLOWER, and Orange Sapphire live for the rest of my life. With Cinderella Girls facing an uncertain future, my only regret is not supporting the franchise earlier.
For this occasion, and because the Sega Saturn I bought got searched with all my idol merch at the airport, I have converted Kaoru's solo to Saturn compliant Cinepak FMV, which is what is playing on the TV in the picture. This is tested and confirmed working on real hardware and emulators. I didn't actually do any coding though. More details and links in the next post.

There are a lot less limitations in what you can do on Saturn, but still a ton of them. Getting video that will playback without desyncing on a Sega Saturn without the VCD add-on has some limitations. There is a hard limit of 300KB/s for total bitrate. Encoding anything with movement like an idol MV at less than 250KB/s in Cinepak is a total disaster, so audio quality had to suffer. The hardware will also only play uncompressed audio streams, so there's no hope there either. Because of this we're limited to about 48KB/s 8-bit audio with a 22050 sample rate. That said, the goal was fullscreen video at 24 FPS with no major desync or slowdown, and this was accomplished. I tried 30, but the bitrate just had to be too high for that. So you might want to turn your audio down first.
I'm providing a link to the .cue/.iso. They should work fine in an emulator, and you can run them on hardware if you have a region unlock cart. I'm well aware 95% of the thread has no intention of downloading the command-line only Saturn emulator (the only one really worth using) and configuring its bios to watch one single blocky-1994-compressed idol MV. So I will also provide a video of the entire thing running in the Mednafen Saturn emulator. Picrel is the title screen.

Most games use redbook audio streamed directly from tracks 2-however many audio files there are on the CD. While that's great for games and music playback, it sucks to try and sync that to a video file playing, so most cutscenes have pretty bad audio quality even in official releases.
So like, Sega jumped from the bleeps and bloops you hear in my tribute from last year to full CD quality audio on both SegaCD and Saturn... Unless you're watching an FMV, in which case you're only getting good audio if the video is not-fullscreen.

In comparison, Sunfaded has already breached outside even the imas sphere with at least music nerds and boomers who are drawn in by either the known music producer or the sound itself. You don't really need to know anything about Hiro to still get the vibes of the song.
Neither is really the right or wrong way to approach things but the latter has a higher chance of breaching it's target audience if done really well. Personally, I like L&J more as a song but it's clear that the Sunfaded MV is something special.
