On block, it's safe to do because it leaves you plus. On hit, you get full corner carry and oki from everything, so you're put into a 50/50 again. On top of that, there are throw loops in the corner that all characters (except a few) have, making for some of the most boring offensive play in any new gen FG. The mere existence of DR turns the game into nothing but messy guesses and scrambles in so many situation, and guessing wrong once can lead to a game ending situation. Because of this, the game has homogenized into c.mk/c.mp DRC jab so that the offensive player can establish some form of stability, but even that stability is rooted in constant 50/50s for the defensive player. Whats even more insane is that is just a criticism of DR. All the other mechanics have multiple flaws that lead to the same outcome. Randomness and messy gameplay. All culminating into a bad game, but people will say no one has real criticism because steamchart numbers.

There's a good chance S3 only having one stage and there not being any new shop gear for the past two months may be due to Streamline (Capcom's main FG related outsource team for almost 10 years) going through financial difficulties. It's agreed upon that all character models and costumes are handled internally but I think Streamline are responsible for all stages as well as some (?) avatar gear and possibly even the WT updates.
