I think it's because they just lack situational awareness. The older games really hammered that kind of thing home because if you didn't avoid walls you got combo'd to death and you needed to keep your head on a swivel to avoid all the small monsters. Ironically I think it's the reason they're also really bad at rampages. The squad playerbase isn't permanent because it's used as a lobby rather than anything else and because you can only have 50 people, this means a lot of the time it gets filled with inactive people. So they're cleared out for other anons to join. This is also why the squad has an auto accept function.

It's only an issue with milds latest addition.
We went from bullshit morld investigations with 10-15% ruby drop rate on gold reward on top of the standards 1-3% that you roll 7 time per hunt if you play it right, to the 3x 1% target reward and 2% per carve.
So it's either you suffer running the same mind numbing, barely challenging fight or you snipe a tempered one in multiplayer with a guarranteed drop but with high chance of all your teammates carting.
Basically we went from getting a ruby after 10-15 hunts average to 50 hunts OR you cheese it with one lucky quest drop or multiplayer.
It's all about degrees of rng.

I settled for 3 atk, 1 aff/ele, 1 sharp when making elemental sets for hammer and SnS. That 5 extra raw between 3 and 4 attack rolls makes no difference. it's just souls combat at this point, keep dodging and stay in position until the monster taunts and then hit it. eventually you can start hitting it during the delayed moves and slight openings too.
