Nah, they used to absolutely do that before, you could wear heavy fireproof armor and it would happen. Probably required you to get multiple limbs broken but it's a shotgun so it could happen.
Also, if you weren't wearing fireproof armour a common issue was that you got reduced to 5% HP in one shot and the burn tick would finish you off before you could dive or stimm, but that's technically because you weren't wearing the fireproof armour so w/e.

They are not. Blitz is especially fun, but free weapon XP and medals from either is always great and not many times you get to gun down bot ships outside of exterminates. Their metas are different from regular play too if youre trying to optimize. Laser becomes a must pick in blitz because its 3 use limit isnt a problem.

You don't have to play the MO, you can dive on any planet you want. Progress is driven by the majority of players so the individual matters very little. If you want to still contribute but not do the MO you can dive on any planet with a 0% defense rating because your contribution won't decay over time.
