professor of curvature is a meme skill because any velocity gained by the skill on the first 3 corners is overshadowed by continuous RNG/WIT checks and if it activates on the 4th corner it's useless because your uma has just started accelerating to her final spurt target speed, and by the time the uma reaches her target speed and would have kept accelerating to the heightened target speed from prof. of curv., the skill will have already worn off.

the reason she is less ideal for longs is because she will struggle to hit the ~800 stamina she'll need given the complete lack of stamina growth-rate. it requires a more balanced distribution of training or even slotting in a stamina card which cuts down on your potential. the same concept still applies in longs though, imo, to a less effective degree.
"gambler" is just my term for units that undershoot their stamina, pump speed, and rely upon multiple recoveries (which is inherently inconsistent). the reason tachyon is great for this is because her unique recovery is extremely consistent.

stamina relates to track distance and has nothing to do with style
no matter what position your horse runs undisturbed, they will burn the same amount of stamina
styles changed the efficiency which stamina is burned into speed
this translates to something you can easily see in the game: end closers get to turn their stamina into much greater speed more efficiently when it comes for the final spurt
this is why they begin it much earlier than everyone else and hit better top speed than other styles
