I like seeing the whole system.
I'm really not feeling my current save though. I might reroll or start all the way over. Bio+Divination psyker buffing the whole team through the raven is itself fun and pretty strong, but if you don't go first then the people you need to buff leave your raven aoe, or else they pass their turn in an ineffectual turn in order to stay under the aoe. I was stacking my raven aoe and Cassia officer skull aoe over each other for tons of buffs to everyone and it worked well when initiative favored us, but most fights it doesn't work because Kibelah or Ulfar or whoever rolls higher initiative and goes off doing their thing killing stuff and is thus not in the aoe. So the whole gimmick doesn't really work.
But if I was just officer into tactician/strategist it wouldn't matter where the ally was, if Kib/argent/Ulfar/etc goes first and does their turn, you can just target them from wherever you are, and you're not losing efficiency.
So despite how cute the companion class is, after playing it a bunch I just don't like it. I prefer the stronger single target buffs from strategist, and I'll leave the overseer class to Glaito and the eagle from either Cass or Jae. In my opinion only really Idira benefits from Overseer more than any of the base game classes, and maybe Cassia but that's only because she's best doing navigator things so her second class doesn't matter. Jimmy is better as executioner/archmilitant, and Jae is better as tactician/strategist.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to scrap this save, and go ahead and do my retard playthrough to snag the achievements related to being chaos. There's 2 or 3 steam achievements that are explicitly for a chaos playthrough so I'm going to have to do this someday anyway even though I don't want to, so I might as well do it now since I'm still testing what classes I enjoy and goofing around anyway. My serious or "canon" playthrough can wait.

One of my favorite ChineseRPGHs is Tale of Wuxiam where the game is 80% raising sim and you bring the character you built up into tactical battles until the last chapter of the game where you wonder around the world with your team.
A crpg where you have chapters /segments that you do a raising sim that determines build/skills/relationships or perhaps even affect world state before going for the more traditional gameplay is something I'd like to see.
An example of how it could work out, is if you had smaller segments from Tyranny prologue every chapter and affected your character build, not just world state.

I can't get into TT-inspired CRPGs, because porting a tabletop game system over without the human GM it was designed for is like making a car without a steering wheel. On the tabletop the GM rules, and makes sure that the consequences of dice rolls are fun for the players regardless of success or failure. In a CRPG, the game system rules and punishes the player for things outside his control.
Contrast with X-COM. X-COM works because it's a game of risk management which was designed from the ground up without a GM in mind. But the systems CRPGs use were designed *with* a GM in mind. Are there any CRPGs which successfully deal with this problem without dispensing with RNG altogether?

I hate to say it, but RT would be a better game if the heretic path just didn't exist. It makes no sense. Everyone would just kill you. You cannot walk into a dynasty and start doing overtly chaotic things and expect people to just go along with it. Jimmy, Ulfar, Argenta would literally just shoot you in the back of the head. You would be dead the first week.
Adn even the others besides them would stop you too. Cassia is not a heretic, she loves the Emperor, so you'd just get eye blasted one day when you said some heretical shit that went too far. Kibbelah going along with a heretic domin is also pretty questionable since she's incredibly devout in service of the Emperor and chaotic shit explicitly acts against the Emperor and humanity, but they handwave it by saying she's just soooooo susceptible to your influence that she gets corrupted. It's stupid. If it was more realistic, what actually would happen is she would slice your head off the second you overtly went against the Undying One.
Jae is also not really that much of a heretic. Sure she breaks the law and dabbles in illegal ways to make money, but there are actually several instances where she reveals that she's not that bad of a person, and her sins are just making money, not actually hurting the Imperium or defying the Emperor on purpose. She would not stick around with someone who is overtly heretical. She likes bending the rules to make some money, but she doesn't partake in the actual bad kind of heresy.
The entire heretic path in the game is unrealistic, requires tons and tons of handwaving, requires the people around you to act illogically, and is just one big long nonsensical farce that constantly stresses your suspension of disbelief. Sure, Argenta and Jimmy and a few others eventually leave, but it's genuinely absurd they wait as long as they do, and it's absurd they don't actually do anything to you. It's nice that there is a secret heretic companion, but it doesn't make up for the whole thing.

With the medal of alacrity she gets 3 AP, and there are a lot of of items and talents that reduce or restore AP as you cast psyker powers, so you can do your entire buff sequence with no problems at all. It does make the game really boring after a while though because you have to do your buffing routine for every fight and your party becomes insanely powerful with all the Biomancy/Divination buffs you can apply.

She comments afterwards that Yrliet doesn't deserve death, because death is too merciful and at any point she would've chosen death over what she had to endure.
Abelard: Is embraced by a mother fucking pain engine, which causes him so much physical agony that his mind shatters and he begins having visions of his dead wife, which persist for the rest of his life.
Pasqal: Has all of his internal hardware forcibly ripped out and replaced by hideous xenotech, which is a violation of such extremity that he was considering suicide rather than to continue on in such a disgraced and horrendous state.
Jae: Has her artificial lungs ripped out and fresh, biological lungs placed back into her body, too bad they're ridden with disease leaving her only days to live while she's wracked with constant pain where she can barely breathe.
Kibellah: Is killed repeatedly and then brought back to show her that her entire belief structure which she based her whole identity off of is wrong, and forced to kill clones of herself to the point where she's not even sure she's the original anymore.
Idira: Has to wear a hat and finally gets to hear her own thoughts for once, also forced to do some manual labor.
Yrliet: Has to cut a few people which makes her feel kinda bad.

I have a feeling the game starts running out of steam lategame. I am in chapter 13 and I swear to god, the game had forgotten that my supposed girlfriend exist.
Skeleton animation and maintenance is ridiculously cumbersome. Thankfully, lategame, you have access to zombies that are much easier to maintain.

Evocation can be DEXed, Mind affecting dissables Enchanting and Illusion.
Abjuration and Divination are more of a Subschools that can't kill.
Conjuration is strong but is not special enough to main it.
Necromancy, meanwhile, is capable of attacking all 3 saves + summons + non elemental damage.
>>532254086Depending how they're implemented, tie between summoner and enchantment wizard. I like being physically weak in games because it usually carries more risk. And I like turning enemies against each other and mind fuckery. Summoning is neat too, but depends how it's done. It's nice when I have a series of options to choose from that fit different roles.
I also liked stat damage/draining in Morrowind to bring an enemy to a halt for instance. Or, the one thing I wanted to do but never was able to, use strength damage/drain to drown an enemy.
More generally, I always prefer wizards for having a whole toolbox for approaching different situations.
