yes, this is a form of getting boxed in and happens in real horse races. when you're running as fast as you can forward, navigating around someone isn't easy if you don't know what you're doing because you can't risk getting both of you killed when you bump into them (talking horses here). if your horse is not smart enough to decide to move around them and correctly pull that maneuver off, they can't just phase through them.

HP is something weird, it isn't strictly a stam conversion but it heavily influences it. I think the biggest factor was track length then stam was the 2nd largest part of the HP equation but idk what it was. Recovery skills restore HP and it might seem like they're less useful if you have low stamina to begin with which isn't entirely correct. A recovery skill on a 200 stamina horse will heal for more on a medium track than on a sprint because they heal a % of HP

brother this is a horse racing simulator, it would be impossible without the mechanics of horses racing each other. the entire game is training your horses, train them to know how to move around other horses with Wit or give them skills that boost navigation, field of view, ect.
they included multiple mechanics to let you cheat while still being authentic, like clocks. you literally never lose a run to 1 bad luck race because you get a free clock every day and can stockpile as many as you need, if your horse is losing more than 3 times a run that's not luck but poor training.
