With AI potential its hard again, you run the threat of being dragged into a 2way war constantly, either from Marienberg, The Barrows Legion, the Orc tribe to the North of Middenland, Khazrak and even the minor Bretonnian factions to your South if you didnt sign a non-aggression pact with them turn 1. unfortuanly that is true. Three Kingdom had many nice things in it but it had issues a lot of it. For example playing anything other than Hans was locking a lot of characters that was Heath of this game.
It failed because of bad dlc idea, each chapter was one time play than you never returned to it, also those dlc give not enough to main campaign.
Also maybe it is my personal taste but game had too many gramps as playable characters.

Just for fun, let's come up with ideas for all-female units for factions that don’t currently have any female units at all. A few ground rules to keep it interesting:No cheating with races that already have female units, like the High Elves, Dark Elves, or Bretonnia (they’ve got those Damsels and Prophetesses).
Sorry, Lizardmen are out — they don’t really have a gender dynamic that fits this.

Empire might be the best candidate, since they’re mostly male units right now (besides maybe some heroes/lords in lore?).

Also: do you think some units like Flagellants might actually be mixed-gender already? They're such a chaotic, frenzied mob that you might imagine half of them are women — it’s just hard to tell under all the screaming and chains. That could be a fun angle too.

Leadership is obviously good on daemons and undead, but usually worse on heroes, since as you say they take more damage before routing. There are a handful of niche situations where it's like, I wish that unit of spearmanii would hold and get wiped, so that I can shoot the enemy more, but in general that's not super common.

IMO the bigger problem with leadership is ranged units pulling swords out of their ass and holding in melee about 2/3rds as well as equivalent shitty melee infantry. I think the game could be much more fun, more explosive, if ranged units would rout almost immediately in melee combat, instead of all being de facto semi-hybrids. Sure a unit of gobbo wolf riders could shut down multiple ranged units pretty handily, but that'd give them any purpose in SP, and you should, as the commander, have to defend your ranged units. Sure it could lead to a noob box meta but the ranged checkerboard meta isn't much better, and it would force you to bring some melee infantry compared to the checkerboard which lets you bring 19 ranged with almost no downsides. Back to the concept of light cav hard countering ranged, it would be a skill check/micro investment, and they should be countered by heavy cav or monsters or obviously spearmanii. Bring back the rock-paper-scissors, please!

You're not clued in enough if you think morale plays a role in WH. Formations don't matter so breaking the formation for a few seconds is only as valuable as the damage you can inflict on routers and that is incredible hard to capitalize on unless you have doggos, a dedicated chaser unit, that suffers in other tasks.
Positioning can matter but usually only to a large degree in ambushes where you or the enemy has incredibly soft units (artillery) that you can smash. Flanking in general does fuck-all because you're in every single situation better off getting a high value damage dealer than a morale shock unit (except against undefended artillery but again, doggos are superior here) and play for the army losses because that's the way every battle ends and that's the only way a battle ever ends.

Imrik and Teclis are hell for the first ~50 turns and don't ever really get comfy, although they personally become extremely strong combatants. Teclis would probably be my favorite if he got a confederation mission to get an Ulthuan settlement or if Caledor survived long enough for Imrik's to work at all. Fuck this game.

Three Kingdom's Diplomacy UI is by far the worst thing in every total war. You cannot at a glance tell who you're in an alliance with or at war with.

You cannot tell on the campaign map people's moods/intentions or if again you're at war with them.

It's impossible to tell who likes who at a glance because all the flags are the same

You don't want your units to rout because they lost 20% of their HP but you also don't want them to fight to the last model, it'll take less turn replenishing that unit to full from encampment than it would take recruiting a whole new unit from global (+ newly recruited units will always be weaker due to the veterancy disparity)
Pathfinding can also be a bitch and force the unit to go back into melee

It's an issue related to two things:
Most cavalry sacrificing their stats for charge and taking an absurd amount of damage from melee/getting pelted by ranged because of that
Most ranged units are surprisingly capable of fighting off flankers, they don't always win but they will put a big dent into your cavalry before routing (ie quarrellers with great weapons)

That's assuming your cavalry is a good one and not some high level of trolling like the nehekhara horsemens

They don't, if you leave a gap in your formation for your ranged units the AI will have a brain blast moment and charge into the "vulnerable" ranged, even if you close the gap they'll force their way throught until your melee units actually manage to convince the AI it is engaged in melee already

If you mean the unit's formation themselves, those don't matter too, whatever you read about tighter formations having more mass against cav charge become irrelevant the moment Big Belly Man smash his bazillion mass through your unit

wrong, you can get gold from diplomacy and trade and yes it's good enough for a while and you know what you're doing and you can get legitimacy through scheming (and diplo as well although not as good) and also being the cultural leader isn't even that important.

Wrong. completely wrong. You can (and I have, multiple times in fact) very confortably turtle with a couple of commanderies and survive for 100+ turns just fine through diplomacy and smart defense, and reach duke rank with only like 4 commanderies or so even with factions that don't have massive prestige boostimg mechanics (which quite a few do). You're just wrong. Those two games offer many, many ways to solve most problems.
