That's a pretty good point because you take for a moment how unbelievably certain and confident Bungie was to get Marathon out on a date that would be when Ash and Iron would be fresh and new. Trying to solo Ghosts on release weekend was what finally made me stop playing. All my friends had left, so it was just me, and when I got to ECKtar and saw how little his health went down after a single damage phase, I realized I just didn't give a fuck anymore. I knew if I did it a couple more times, I'd get better, and I'd get to DPS phases faster, and I'd do more damage and figure out better what worked, but at that point I just didn't care. There was no point. Even after hearing Arbalest would 1-tap the overshield I didn't go back. I didn't give a flying fuck about the Shayura's Wrath replacement, or the exotic, or any of the armor or other weapons, and I wasn't having fun. I had bought the deluxe edition with all the seasons for Lightfall like an absolute mongoloid retard, but I just didn't care to do them after seeing how shit Ghosts was, since Dungeons were the one thing I still really enjoyed.
I played during Season of the Witch, and it was 'okay', and I gave Wish a try, but the seasonal activity was boring and whatever desire I had left to give it a fair shake was thrown away after Bungie did whatever stupid bugfix it was that season which fixed the easy grind skip that involved opening chests in the Dreaming City and being asked to go do Blind Well again. I was so done I didn't even bother to try the other dungeon, since after Ghosts I knew the direction they were going in from that point forward and that Dungeons were no longer made for people like me; they were just going to be for the raid-race twitch streamer crowd. It sucked to see they continued that trend in TFS, but I guess Dungeonfags had it too good for too long, so like everything else, it had to get shit on.

I used to do speedrunning and was big into the MMO challenge grinding scene for a while, so I get how it's easy to let your health slip away when you're in the thick of it, but it was only 48 hours. People that got sick during the race were probably pushing too hard to grind in the week or two leading up to the raid release.

There are indeed cool weapons, but the grind to get access to good rolls of those weapons is behind 50~100 hours of grinding, because the new Tiered Loot system is based on your time investment, not the difficulty of what you do, and veteran players will not see any real upgrades until at least T3, which is estimated at about 90~120 hours.
Oh and they plan to reset this grind in December.

Personally I like it. It's a mechanically simple but fine raid, the problem with it is that if you have a retard it can drag everyone down. The Hydra room for example requires everyone to essentially be on point or things cascade quickly.
The chicken room is simple but you'll have some retards who just cannot for the life of you get the tempo down for shooting a box.
The Hobgoblin sniper room I think is the easiest but people can still fuck up by virtue of just running through the wrong ring.

The final boss is easy as piss, you can brute force it with 2 wells easily enough but if you don't have 2 then at some point it turns into another Witness doing the laser attack thing, and some people just cannot dodge things even if their life depends on it.

Whenever I see people discuss the story it comes off as cope. Two people trying to justify and pretend this series ever had a good story. It never did. Some of the lore is interesting but the story has and always will be ass and there is not a single DLC that was good. People so badly want to believe the story in this game was ever interesting that they delude themselves. This annoys me because story is the one cheap thing this series could have coasted on to justify the lack of content we get. There are many players out there thay have hundreds of thousands of play without spending a dime on the game. And you dont need much plat to rush weapons if you really wanted to, since its probably something you dont do as a matter of course anyway (I have never done it and never felt the need to do it). Exactly. They are increasingly catering to casuals and solos, because their own metrics were showing they were not and its the best avenue for growth. All the raid is for is 1)marketing and 2) to torture the addicts. One of the few positives that people have about D2 is that the very foundational gameplay (shooting aliens in the face with guns) feels good. Casuals/solos predominately want that experience, but none of the crap beyond that, because it becomes work and not fun. I will never play with others in D2 beyond the patrol spaces or strikes (or one offs like Excision) because that experience is not something I value because its not casual; D2 content focus has largely been to that crowd, but its a shrinking segment of the possible playerbase.

The story and destination are worth it but the light level treadmill isn't really fun and the requirements for upgrade materials is worse than when we had upgrade modules.
I started last week with over 1000 enhancement cores now I have 0 and I'm struggling to gain more just doing my Titan.

I have over 4000 of the Blue Cores but I don't seem to be earning regular cores fast enough to infuse my shit.

So I would just buy it for the campaign, level up to 200 then wait for ash n Iron if you were going to.

You need to run the raid 16 times to even get good tier loot so that's pointless too.

If your primary support method is via weaponry (Tractor, Div, GHorn), then Hunter can offer you an edge if your party already has a lot of warlocks and Titans. I believe Deadfall still is the strongest weaken debuff in the game, as well. Hunters also factually run faster than the other classes as of this update, and get more benefit from those stupid leg armor mods they added.
Mactics being a retard that can't shoot a gun doesn't mean the class is bad at the job he was given. A 3/2/1 (Warlock/Titan/Hunter) or 2/2/2 setup is perfectly fine for most 6-man content these days.
