Yes the shield has an extremely low CD if you toggle it off immediately, low enough that it will be up for the next drill, but you don't even need the shield.
You can evade out of a slam-stagger fast enough that you can start spinning before Panther can launch his drill, allowing you to clash with the drill, and Welkin doesn't get staggered when he clashes during a spin so he can just continue spinning.

This game looked like it was completely fucking over early on, but Pinaka and Narukami ended up having a lot of impact and we made a crazy comeback in the second half.
It helped that the enemy Welkin was huffing galaxy gas or something, seemed like he was losing more and more braincells as the match went on.

it's okay to not get kills, I think my job as Alysnes is to be a bruiser. Kind of a halfway point between a tank and an assassin. You want to use your shield as often as possible since you can shoot and press 2 while keeping it up. You can also do nice burst damage by unloading your 2s and spamming M1, melts enemy armor really quick. If you have the halberd out, be sure to do down slashes which are unparriable, and parry other melee fighters with your shield since you will automatically riposte. The biggest risk as with other melees is that you run out of energy, so it's best to engage and disengage with your blaster out. If a hungry melee mech is chasing you, I find that backing off with the shield & halberd out works, if they try to down slash just don't let them get above you.

You can live forever with this mech. When your health bar goes down you become super squishy but you can slash boost away or deal a bit of damage but be sure to change back with 3 sooner rather than later since you can die quicker than you think. One thing I like to do is charge at a sniper or otherwise weak mech in the squishy mode, slash the fucker a few times and then reset my energy with 3 to continue the charge. Or disengage with a boost slash into an objective, then reset with 3. The squishy mode doesn't offer you a lot of options but it gives you a full energy bar and a brief moment of invincibility, use that well

your blaster does surprisingly much damage when you're in mid range. Try to avoid spamming melee to manage energy, general rule of thumb is that when your energy goes to half you switch to the blaster. You can really help your team focus on tanks by spamming 2 and blaster, I think most tank players really underestimate the power of the blaster.

If anything, Stego will become more meta than it already is due to the hits that both Skyraider and Tricera took with the CIWS nerf.
Tricera will suffer a bit, but Skyraider is going to really feel it when it will have to be looping way more often to dodge all the missiles, and hide out somewhere to recover the countermeasures.
Falcon will probably not see much change in use simply because it's already one of the most popular casually and ineffective in competitive matches. It will remain Alysnes tier in that it mostly annoys people and bugs off.

I don't know about that... Stego is already super fucked whenever it a melee or mid range unit gets close. The added nerf to turning in turret form certainly doesn't make Stego stronger. The CIWS nerf is a good point though, no better way to take advantage of that than Stego missiles. But Skyraiders can just spam loops more which will make him untargetable, which is a prerequisite to the missiles hitting anything.

Falcon will become more popular because now you get to spam the recon. Stellaris and Narukami players will get countered even harder.

Serenith is the easiest to do it with and the only one that explicitly SAYS she can do it, but it seems other beam weapon users can do it too. Skyraider is awkward as fuck to do it with though.
Inferno for some reason can't do it even with his guns charged up, but Aquila can in sniper mode and Narukami can too.
Another thing is that if you have someone locked on, and then you or they go behind cover, as long as you fire before your lock-on drops, you'll hit the target even with someone like Inferno who can't wallbang.

Whilst I am glad that Tricera in particular is being hit, the hits arguably benefit other strikers more than Serenith, and boosting the damage of an attack that even turretbrains can avoid isn't helping her all that much, I'd still rather have Pinaka or Skyraider or Falcon.
I mean the charged cannon is still good at forcing dinos to momentarily reposition off of a point and get them out of turret mode for at least a second, but that's about the limit of what she can really contribute which is just sad. She should be able to feasibly do or provide more to the team.
I hope whatever support is next has a more focused design, and no weird ass-flower that opens up.

Mechanically Tricera is simple enough. The difficulty comes from understanding where to be and when to be where.

There are 2 shields. A front and a back-shield. The shield itself only protects horizontally, so if an attack comes from above, it'll go through it.
Additionally turret-form has parry-capabilities and will stagger melee strikers when deploying and 2 seconds after deploying. It's spammable, so consider deploying/re-deploying often.

While in turret-form, your lock-on "signature" is increased and will draw enemy lock-ons onto it, meaning friendly strikers can seek safety in your presence. Have carefulls not to pack up while your Luminae is about to get skewered by a Panther.
Tricera's main weakness is a low damage output and a rather pitiful effective-range. He's also very limited in his ability to fire upwards. The main way to defeat a Tricera is simply being above him.

The way to play Tricera is to be near teammates, don't be a fag and think they should come to you.
Welkin wants to unga-bunga the enemy welkin? Throw yourself in there so your welkin can unga bunga peacefully while you blast the enemy welkin with the howitzer - don't try and shoot the shield thoughbeit.
Teammate want's to pick up the key/interact with an objective? Position yourself near him, not too near, so he can get the cap off.

You need to stop thinking about Tricera in a vacuum and consider his value in a team fight and around objectives. Sure he loses most 1v1s but so does Luminae, and Luminae is a meta pick. In a team fight most participants are looking to score easier kills so Tricera as a tank is a difficult opponent. Tricera's shields do take some time to recover but he can take a fuckton of damage thanks to his high defenses, he intercepts missiles automatically, parries melees and taunts enemy lockon. Most mechs don't even want to attack Tricera during a team fight because they just don't have the tools to properly deal with him so in effect he can take much more punishment than what the numbers alone imply.

Similarly in a team fight the Tricera is going to be close and those gatling guns deal serious damage over time. The howitzer has a long cooldown but the short stun it causes along with the burst of damage you can do with three volleys is immensely valuable, that's 20k per shot you can dish out in seconds on one target. I often see good Triceras with as much damage done as Skyraiders. There's a very good reason why the team with Tricera almost always wins in a payload map, you are nearly unkillable with your team on your side and you can stay on the objective at all times while continuously dealing heavy damage to anybody that comes close.

now again, I want to stress, I am totally fine with Tricera (and Stego) as they are today and I don't think they needed any nerfs. I think Tricera is extremely powerful in the right hands and in the right maps, but I don't think it's an OP mech. Tricera has godawful mobility and relies on having a competent team that can stick together since he is a tank and a fire support. Tricera is by no means weak either though and I can understand why somebody might think he is OP.

To be fair, Tricera racks up damage from hosing down enemy shields. Hurricane's decoys, Stego's shield, enemy Tricera's shield and even welkin. I think Tricera's damage is very overrated due to the nature of his projectile-speed, it's very difficult to get consistent damage on any moving targets and generally you're delegated to just shooting the other fatties.

Honestly glider + modular weapons solve that.
And the glider may even be optional. A hammer/sword can also allow you to dash. Get some energy regen mods if you really want to but even those are just for comfort.

If you solo queue then good luck finding competent squads that don't play worse than bots. But if you do find one I have had okay luck when asking ones that have spent time in Mashmak if they wanna go. For comp I don't think you need anything specific but modular weapons and anyone that repairs makes restricted zone go a lot smoother. I guess for fighting Hellcat (gold key) you can take the Jamming Haze Diffuser for breaking lock on and fluid armor regen.
