It shouldn't be my equipment, I checked all of it. It's outright "immunity" too rather than a bugged spell resistance from an ability or something. It shouldn't be a bugged buff either since I've removed all my buffs with toybox and cast haste and it didn't work.

Incredibly inconsequential. If anything, eldar would lose more to a conflict with humans than vice versa. I count it as a good ending.

Deciding JA3 difficulty settings going in blind.
This is what I'm thinking:
Commando, but might bump up to Mission Impossible. I'd always rather things be too hard than too easy, but what that means can vary a lot between games.
I toggled on Dead is Dead, To The Bitter End, Ammo Scarcity, Bobby Pay's, Heavy Wounds, and AIM Union Rules.
It's nice that I can change at any time but that's what I'm going with now. If anyone's played, let me know your thoughts.

playing a dogmatic run and iconoclast run simultaneously and so far the dogmatic party is a lot more fun to control in combat but i can't figure out how to meet all of the skillchecks i need without idira (warp) and yrliet (xenos). even with heinrix toybox'd into an officer, he has like 30 less INT than he needs to fill both of those checks.

These are also 7 day contracts, which I need to keep in mind. I could already be WAY over budget without even knowing it, but we'll see. I'm also just noticing there's a slider when hiring, for longer or shorter contracts and you definitely save on longer contracts. Something to keep in mind for the future.

Operative psyker is interesting.
I've been using tide of excellence to stack a bunch of damage increases so that my ignites deal extreme damage. If nothing else it's a lot more interesting than just flipping across the map or spraying enemies with bolters.

I think the overwatch thing is neat, where you attack anyone entering the area. And then there's some feats about ignoring overwatch or disabling enemy overwatch.
It's also interesting that body part targeting takes into consideration obstruction. For instance on a shot I'm about to take, it says that it's obstructed for everything but head.

Mouse for first kill, Igor and Dr Q also on the board and bonus for melee kills, saving some ammo. Livewire balanced it out with some stray bullets that had absolutely no chance of hitting. Accident, and also still understanding the aiming and stances and everything.

First sector taken. Whew, definitely botched that. One well positioned sniper on their side combined with me absolutely blowing any kind of stealth advantage I could have had opening, set us back and almost lost someone. It specifically hurts since I picked a few who are pretty good at stealthing.
Came very close to losing Dr Q. Mouse and Igor took some hits as well.
Plus side? Buns now has some kind of rifle which will give us a little range, and Igor of course will get the AK-47. We still need to be very judicious with ammo, but at some point I think we will be able to manufacture our own.

Neat thing, looks like I'll be able to manage multiple squads which I'm sure will be nice.

Another stupid mistake by me, mostly an issue of not being used to the controls and I misunderstood something about stealth so we confronted instead of stealthed, again. Dumb dumb dumb... This time I also misunderstood equipping, so the couple of grenades we have don't seem to be accessible.
This might be it for us. Even if we take these last two out, we are hurting VERY badly. Mouse has already panicked. We can't really afford to take time to heal up but I don't see what other choice we have.

Igor's AK has jammed twice and is now out of ammo anyhow. He threw his knife and now has gotten drunk (to give him some grit which is basically damage reduction), and is about to run over with his fists.

Did Aurora get nerfed?
He's a lot weaker than I remember. Usually you have to restart the fight until you go first, throw a sacrificial lamb into melee, and use desperate measures to blitz him down before he 1 shots the entire team with a single burst fire.
This time I just sort of hit him with a few ignites and and a burst fire from Argenta and he died. It was very anticlimactic.

I'll recreate one of my old characters I played for a long time. Pretty good at talking and medicae. She was part of the personnel from the local convent who was sent to help an inquisitor who asked for help when he arrived in the system following a lead. That game was really fun, the rest of the group was a psyker, a guardsman, and a tech adept so it was very much an archetypal party.

The main problem with RT is that the combat is fucking boring, even for a TB enjoyer like myself, because it doesn't feel like you're making decisions. What the combat feels most like, is a card game, where you can build your deck the way you want and always draw the same opening hand, with that opening hand always being a one-turn-victory. So every single fight is exactly the same, it doesn't even feel like playing a game.

They try to get around this by making fights with phases, or triggered immunities that force fights to take more than 1 round, but that's just lame.

There are too many ways to do a million damage in one turn in this stupid combat system. To make it even worse, building characters and leveling is fucking boring as well. We have all these hundreds of talents are not only extremely specific, but also completely fucking pointless; I don't even really level 4 of my companions after act 3, because they never get to do anything anyway. I just pick whatever talent happens to be at the top of the list and go with that, it literally doesn't matter.

The Pathfinder games are the same way; the combat is fucking boring, because you just do the same exact overpowered shit in every single fight. Just buff your OTK-guy and then OTK the entire screen. You got all these stats and talents and classes, and it doesn't matter; it's all a mirage, just completely pointless and a waste of your time to read or think about. The combat may as well only be there in these titles so that they don't get classified as point-and-click games.

If I were to review this game the lack of reactivity overall, not just here (but here definitely stings the worst so far) I would cut my overall score by 25% of the total, god damn it.

One line per character is all it would take, how was that too much to ask? Say what you will about BG3, but at least the NPCs actually reacted to your class and race choices, and it felt like what your character did was having an impact on your companions all the way up until the Epilogue Party, which completely changes based on what you did with them during the game.

Arcanum didn't need romance, it's just a crutch.

Yrliet is a terrible character and since you're asking for examples, how about this?

How about part of her first quest, which is a great example of the problem with her writing in general. You come upon Eldar from Crudarach in a fleeing ship, and you can either leave them to die, blast them, or take them aboard your ship (assuming you pass the skill checks necessary to do so). Let's say you take the latter option, what happens after this is that the Eldar are bumrushed by lower deckers and killed anyway, which highlights the entire problem with how this is written.

The writer has decided that Yrliet needs to be traumatized and sad about both the fate of her people and the cruel, uncaring mon'keigh that victimize them, and they will get that result no matter what, but they don't do so organically, they don't reach this desired conclusion in a way that makes sense. Let's go over all the problems with this contrived scenario: The Eldar would almost certainly never take this deal to begin with, it is nonsensical and insane for them to go on a ship where best case scenario they will be eaten by Slaanesh on the journey through the warp. But let's say the RT is just THAT good at persuasion, or the Eldar are THAT desperate. Is the RT a fucking retard? Why does he not put security in place or simply make sure nobody knows they're on his ship to begin with? And third, how the FUCK are Craftworld Eldar getting bumrushed and killed by a bunch of lower decker scum when they would EASILY overpower thousands of them?

All of these problems are ignored and they just die anyway because the writer has decided that it is going to happen no matter what, and so it does. Very hamhanded, very inorganic, very BAD writing. And this is typical of Yrliets content in general.

Even what little romance additions it gave were minimal and no more than what you got for non romance content with the other NPCs. Yeah I'm struggling to wrap my head around party composition. There are more party slots than archetypes and most of the talents seem to be highly conditional with very specific synergies in mind.

A lot of them are. It's usually about building up stacks of various conditions then exploiting them. Some classes have a key stat eg bladedancer with Medicae, and you can boost that to absurd levels during combat, and output tremendous amounts of bleeding damage
It will all make sense with a bit of experimentation, and don't be afraid to use a guide
In the early game it may seem that you're very short of cash (profit factor) but that quickly changes and soon you're swimming in PF

First time setting up a machine gun, perfect spot for it. Kalyna just made a long range headshot so there should be some action in the road soon.
Igor and Mouse followed a guy into a house and silently murdered him, now the rest should be clean-up. I should've gone here first honestly, the last sector I took with the bunker was brutal, reinforcements (theirs) arrived at one point too.
It did make me finally take a day to rest, almost everybody had at least 3 wounds, so significantly impaired AP and aim and health and just about everything.
Patched up to full at the cost of a day. If I can't come across ~20k by the time their contracts are up, that's it for me, and next time I'll start with a smaller team of 3-4.

Things were going pretty well.
I thought I had a good team put together. Aurora went down without a problem. All the synergies were kicking in.

Then this random fucking gang boss with a power hammer walks up and 1 shots my RT who was all in on health and armor. Next turn he aoe one shots 3 more people and both birds. And to make matters worse he had like 30 guys behind him. Now everyone is crippled and I'm down 2 full med kits.

That's a notoriously tough fight, so no not necessarily, don't blindly run into them, let them come to you, use grenades
There's 3 directions you can fight that group from, I like doing it from the back so I can firebomb them as they come up to us

I'm having fun with it. It's a little jank but not unacceptable, and it's mostly just dumb stuff like I will hit the wrong button to loot/salvage/interact instead of "walk here" just some minor dumb things like that.
There's lots of line of sight and cover type things, like you can stand, crouch, go prone, and these have impact on what you can hit etc.
Trying to hit someone through a window you'll have to target their head, things like that.

There's good and bad but overall I like it.
You do get really badly punished (as you should) for dumbfuck moves like putting my doctor right in the middle of the fucking road for some reason.
But there's also a pretty wide range of difficulty settings.

Don't expect things like your mercs taking you aside and having a romance arc or something. Though they do at least at first seem to respond a LITTLE to some decisions you make, not sure if eventually that will turn to not willing to work with you or things, I think that happened in JA2 a bit, but I'm still on Tutorial Island.

not that anon but i think operatives are over-hated. they drop off endgame when everybody is really OP but expose weakness is really strong all the way through act 2. makes things like turrets and bosses very vulnerable to basic melee strikes. was able to one-turn the demon engine encounter on the haunted ship by stripping all of it's armor with pasqal and letting kibellah blade dance it one time.
