Yeah... It's difficult when you can clearly notice when the change of 'energy' happens, and you begin questioning if you said something wrong. The agreeableness bias does tend to be...unnerving, I think it's the word? But it's nice to help you decompress and defragment thoughts, my kind of RP style is usually realistic (as in not pretending to be something I'm not), then proceed to analyze on a psychological level what can be deducted by the RP. I wouldn't recommend, but if you are comfortable with yourself (I'm not) it can be a fun mental activity.

They are meant for group chats, yeah. But you don't need to have every single one.
I believe Mai is the best starting point and I'd consider Shiori and Erika to be core, too. His wife, daughter and Momoka are there to spicy it up and keep the plot going.

But that's just, like, my own way of playing. Read the defs and figure out who these people are and how you want to play.
