As a guy who finished and DEEPLY enjoyed the first game, and just beginning the second one, it is very satisfying. My only gripe is, the game overall just isn't hard enough. Even on the hardest mode, you can kinda yolo it and still be alright most of the time, especially with shared stuff from other players (but you can turn that off).
Also, i expected them to enhance the cargo screen in the second game, maybe an actual 3d screen where you're able to play tetris with your cargo in you backpack to put everything the way you exactly want it. But its still the same shit, kinda clunky and you're mostly reduced to use the auto-sorting.
Still shaping up to be amazing tho, all i ever asked was MORE Death Stranding, and this is exactly this.

The new helo is called the Ibis and it looks like the perfect base clearing weapon if you can get within 3km or so with terrain cover. Two 40mm GMGs + two 25mm autocannons + airdropped UGVs providing support makes for quick work of light/medium vehicles and buildings. You can paradrop the UGVs from high speed.

If you're looking for sheer content 1946 is probably the way to go, what with the Pacific, Europe, and I think there's also some Mediterranean ops in the base game but don't quote me on that. There's also plenty of mod packs out there ranging from effects/visual stuff like HSFX to the massive BAT mod that adds WW1, more WW2, and jet-era planes, campaigns, maps etc. there's a good one called VP modpack that is a good compromise and doesn't take up 100-something gigs like BAT

I think overall if you're going for a mostly single player experience 1946 has the edge in spite of its age. The AI is a fair bit better than in Great Battles (although I don't think they can overheat). It also models 4 engine bombers and drop tanks unlike nu-il2 lol and IIRC an update a while back lets you fly a b-24

Great Battles is still fun though, especially as a VR experience, it's just harder to recommend with the aggressive amount of dlc and shit like that. Seems slightly geared more towards multiplayer, which has never really been my thing for simming, though I've been warming to it recently. It's pretty fun doing two man raids with a random in 190s fully decked out with bombs
