This honestly sucks. It looks like there's no reward for increasing expedition power and leveling up the lighthouse just makes shit more expensive while giving you more fuel, but none of this translates to better rewards or anything at all outside of this screen. The goal of the expedition is get your team as powerful as possible to fight the highest possible level boss, which gives better rewards. Upgrading the lighthouse level makes your team more powerful. These are simple concepts.

I have 4* Homa and have never been her biggest fan. The 5* would solve the energy problem and make Barul Attack spammable which would make her better but otherwise I think she has a nice buff, can give someone dodge while throwing in a little bit of damage and healing. there are some "cards" with nightmare stack removal mechanics but aside from not attacking all sides of the map at once yeah I don't think there is a lot you can do differently, some will transform eventually even if you deliberately take longer than you need to, it's better to bring what you need against the transformed ones, like aoe or I think backstab to ignore their dodge

If you're wondering, dispatches take 2 hours worth of light while leveling your lighthouse costs 4 hours of light.
If you do the math that means 10 dispatches needs 20 hours of light. Thankfully you can trade a few common materials to get around 8 and a half hours of light extra so theoretically you should be able to get 10 dispatches plus 3 lighthouse levels per day.
Might get an extra lighthouse level if the quests give light too.

What defenders are you using on pioneer? the first 10 were auto but I could see that anyone other than Ayishah was doing dick all (I don't have Layla) so I gave up and sent Kvare. Didn't think of Inanna, maybe Nergal's ult can overcome some of the knockback resistance if one were to rush the second defenders cycle today for a challenge. I'll just take it easy and let Ayishah auto when I've caught up with stage levels

You mean in general or in the pioneering thing?
Even in general, stat difference is what determines damage taken. Unfortunately stats matter a LOT in the game, so stat buffs/debuffs are also really strong.
In the pioneer thing level difference changes the mutation of the fight. Depending on your team and what you've unlocked you should be able to take a 7-8lv diff, even if your guys are getting oneshot.

You should be able to punch through a 5-15lv difference in general content just fine barring gimmicks or specific boss attacks.
Like I remember ch7 in Fool's Journey was a significant difficulty spike because of the gimmick that enemies had that spiked their damage output.
Ch8 was a breeze in comparison
If you're having trouble maybe all you need is to invest into your gear or talents a little more

I'm level 50 and trying to do the level 55 event stage. I could definitely clear the stage if I really focus on it and consider everything but it's just a miserable experience going into it and getting so dominated by their overwhelming stat advantage. Same applies for the likes of the trial stages.

But thhe Weapon Trial is one of those exceptions. You basically have to build against it and play in specific ways if you wanna clear it ahead of time.
There are guides that use low rarity units if you wanna follow it, the weapon trial bosses act in a predictable pattern.
But yeah I remember having to stack stuff like M.Def just so my guys wouldn't get oneshot before their turns even started
Either way, at least for the event stage, I think you can catch up on stats with equipment and engravings as well as getting a decent boost from bond/talents.
My perspective might be skewed because I've been overleved and overgeared for events for a long time now, maybe they are like challenge stages for you.

Oh I know about the weapon trials but used it as an example; those are more like puzzles and once your tank(s) can live through the attacks you're golden. I think I'm just generally frustrated with the SRPG genre as a whole. I want to love these games but the strategy and RPG elements are at odds with one another, and stroking the right balance of strategic depth and role-playing elements (such as stats, classes, etc) is extremely difficult to get right. Almost all of these become an unbalanced mess, but that power fantasy is what players want, I guess. I liked the event stages that use a pre-selected team because it should be a suitable challenge.

My take on it was that if you want to scratch the strategy itch you'd go in with weaker or underdeveloped units.
For those that wanted difficulty they could lean more into the RPG side of things and develop their units further getting that power fantasy trip.
The balance of what's tolerable would be for the player to find, but you can argue they shouldn't have to.

When they try to push challenge content trying to combine the two it's absolute misery. And while you have people clearing it with readily available units, it's usually after hours of restarting for good rng, meanwhile most players don't bother figuring it out themselves and just follow a guide once it drops if they can.
I like the idea of assist stages as well, I'm just too lazy+casual to bother engaging my brain sometimes lol, so I know it's not for me
Though I do remember I could only do the Safi+Rawi stage on assist mode last year.

For me the appeal of gacha is working with what you have and seeing units you've built up fucking shit up.
You're quite deep into the game so I assume you've tried Spiral. Gacha plays very influence in it aside from your options in what characters you can bring into it as your starting units, and if they're built up, what starting skillset they bring.

It's cool to bounce off a game, this one demands a bunch of your time when you're trying to catch up.

Raising units in this game costs practically nothing. Only the last 5 or so levels require much XP.
Same deal with ranks. Upto Rank 11 is borderline free with only 12 and 13 having an actual cost. Weapons and trinkets can freely be raised to 50.
The only things you actually want to be cautious about is engravings as they can quickly add up.

Yeah, that's why I loved playing AK with 4*s a few years back, that shit was fun. Unfortunately, stages became harder and harder to the point that it would take hours to complete some of the harder stages that I just stopped playing. The lack of QoL didn't help either. I don't quite have the same feeling of growth as in AK because it's a lot easier to level characters here.

People have tested and the increase to both aoe and magical damage is roughly equivalent to the buffs Shield of Justice gives SP Inanna because she does so much magic aoe damage. Shield of Justice is the most desirable trinket in the game for almost everyone and almost nobody wants BLA, so BLA is generally what to give SP Inanna (assuming you're using her more common damage build instead of her support build because you don't have SP Safiyyah as your buffer/support) because even though SoJ does give her slightly higher numbers, it's better to use SoJ on someone else like Estra or Ayishah.

Well, I decided to give up on Lufti and go just for Inanna.. And currently have gotten neither. Layla was my Guaranteed Random Legendary. After a bunch of the extra promo luxites and wishes, I'm about 50 summons away from my next Guaranteed, and I worried the Raining Secret Fates Event is going to screw me by giving me a legendary outside of the Debut in Fateful Summons.

When Boss Rico takes over, all berserkers will be issued a cute dragon cape instead of a bearskin.

On a side note, I bought the celebration package for another guaranteed. Not quite busted, but still pretty handy. Surprisingly, it doesn't count towards your overall summons.
