By Abyss 2 the upgrade level and tier of your gear starts to make a much bigger difference to character power - if you haven't gotten to grips with how to upgrade/refine/alter gear this is the time to start.

It's not an 80s term. I've been playing this genre since the beginning and we just called them "RPGs", same as any other type of RPG. That's also how we did it in the 90s, I didn't start seeing terms like CRPG, JRPG, or tactical RPG until the early 2000s. The genre's been mostly dead outside of Japan, so I'm assuming it's a nip term that never caught on in the West.

Surety is the best stat to alter useless blessings since you can easily get it to 10 with alter + refine and it makes a huge difference as opposed to others stats that need 20 to be considered a good blessing

I do Cave of Flowers and you don't even have to finish the side quest, just auto move to the side cave on the left and kill everything. Then click find exit and start over, also enemies scale with you so its easier to grind exp.

The majority of the EN voices are better than the JP voices. The few JP voices that I think are straight up better than the EN ones off the top of my head are Marianne’s and Rinne’s, mainly because Marianne sounds way too similar to Arna while Rinne's EN voice is just plain awful.

English not being my main language, and having a decent understanding of japanese, let me be a better judge of the quality of voice acting: it's not even close, JP is much more professional. Voice acting in Japan is taken way more seriously than anyone is let to believe. Getting your first work can take up to a decade (if you aren't a born once in a decade superstar.) Their intonation and overall acting is wonderful. English is serviceable, but far away from the best choice. If you don't know japanese though, a lot will be lost in the ether, since JP adds a LOT of personality in just a few sentences (outside of the acting alone that adds yet another layer.)
