Finally making some armor, is there a way or mod to make it so they equip it when drafted but put it back in storage when not?
Or rather a button when drafted that changes their apparel policy to one defined by the user and sends them to equip the closest ones.

the problem is there's no building construction in the game that makes this worthwhile. anything that can be built can be built better and faster by full-fledged colonists with their needs being met. this isn't dwarf fortress where you can build a tower.

I think it's intentional; the expansion is built around exploration and freedom. It's really fun and interesting landing in different biomes, finding different landmarks and building camps around your ship. You can choose whether or not to blast off at nearly any moment, open construction notwithstanding and putting the control right in your hands.
It's like a nearly-oversteered counterpart to Anomaly's "gotcha!"/pick-on-you horror, all about wonder and empowering the player with cool toys straightforwardly handed over instead of making them jump through hoops or solve a puzzle first. It even spoonfeeds you a grav engine via a trivial intro quest like the royalty wimp if you started on the surface.

You could use them to strategically cook raiders or keep warm in the cold, but you can't hide them in a mountain or behind a bunch of walls without big issues, and you've still got to get uranium to craft rods and keep it fed. It ideally be one or two more buildings with pros and cons, not half a fucking conversion mod with OC lore.
Stuff like this is actually a valuable addition when vanilla lacks a bridge between industrial power and magical hard-to-get artifacts that spit out puny amounts of power each for no cost whatsoever.

a geothermal plant is just the turbine built on top of a natural source of steam, steam that was generated at least in part by radioactive fissile materials.

Do you think it was cut and we only got asteroids and ships in low orbit, or are they actually going to keep pushing the concept into its own thing with system-wide exploration? Would you actually pay for an Odyssey 2 with ship combat, planets/system exploration, space events etc? We've been slowly filling out the lore primer for years, and this would round it out. You could find an anomalous fucked up world, frozen ones with Yttaki, Dune equivalents, all with orbital asteroids/stations/ships you can dick with.
I figured diplomacy was next, but maybe it's a curveball followup to space. A lot of what you would expect was pointedly absent for an expansion that bit off space and spaceships. Or am I running with the ball?
