IMO most of people’s problems with Yummy stem from VSK9 being way too strong.

VSK9 vs pretty much any deck other than yummy or the mirror is at least 80-20 in Vs favor while yummy is something like 65-35 in favor of yummy (which is by design as they were made to be good vs K9) and the mirror is 5050 based on who is more skilled. Meanwhile yummy matchups tend to be less lopsided and has more negative matchups but those negative matchups autolose to Vs so there is no reason to play any deck other than VS or yummy. Yummy is also way easier to pilot and is more forgiving than VS so people gravitate towards it.

Take VS down a few notches and the decks that have good yummy matchups will see more play and yummy will go down accordingly as well.

Yugi's deck has the problem of being made out of a shitload of sub-archetypes which makes it impossible to balance so they gave up and invented Shining Sacrophagus to centralize everything and they're still in the process of getting everything to fit in the box.

The problem with Dark Magician is strictly a direction issue, they abandoned the original Xyz angle the deck was being pushed towards for Fusion summoning which eventually turned into Dragoon turbo.

Blue-eyes had the same problem as Dark Magician but they locked in with the SD and brought it back to the original direction it was on but the only problem it has now is simply a problem with its floor which Primite was made to patch.

Yusei.dek is cursed by Junk Speeder existing meanwhile Jack lost his ultimate manga ace to Centurion abusing it and Blackwings were always good and the only problem with the deck is that Komami wants to force Black-Winged Dragon into it instead of focusing on it being a solitaire deck like it was back in 2009.

Ai and Yusaku share in the same pool of Cyberse slop spam and Soulburner was so good even the writers of Vrains complained about him.

Yes, basically every other currently existent TCG that did the constantly running toy commercial shtick has basically pivoted to a short episodic web serial esque format, but that's really not saying much when out of the exceptionally sparse like 20~ currently running TCGs in Japan a grand total of 4 only really worked as actual seasonal kid cartoon and the rest are just using already popular IPs or too adult and niche for anything sans a one time anime. Like yeah, Vanguard is the only TCG still has a constantly running anime, but like the only other TCGs that used to do that are Yugioh, Duel Masters and Battle Spirits
