Given these events and what we know of Dorothy my interpretation is this:
Dorothy desperately wanted to believe the hologram she was seeing was the real Pinne. She tried to lie to herself and live in delusion, but the moment she sees a real "ghost" showing itself on the mirror she gets upset because now she 100% knows that the one in front of her can't be the soul of Pinne.
This would explain why by the time she fights with Rapi she breaks down and says that she knew all along the hologram wasn't Pinne's ghost.
