I’ve recently noticed a dramatic uptick of early-mid game Ironmen getting incredibly upset when they feel they’re slightly inconvenienced by another player.

Two examples: a GIM at Motherlode Mine ran back to a downstairs vein after being AFK for at least 18 minutes and typed, “fuck off you waste of air. Go nerd somewhere else” in private chat.

Another Ironman had an absolute meltdown when I mistakenly left auto retaliate on and accidentally hit one single Iron Dragon while running past them in Catacombs. I don’t remember his exact message, but it definitely included something to the effect of telling me to fuck off and eat shit.

This has always occasionally occurred but has happened far more often recently to me. I wonder if it’s due to an influx of new players seeing all the big WoW streamers and others play OSRS. This is a MMO game where shit happens, and the players aren’t responsible for catering to you if you elect to play the game on hard mode.

Because osrs is simply not a good game to stream outside of pking (which has too high a barrier of entry for vtubers to bother trying to cross). It takes dozens of hours to level up and complete minor goals. At that point nobody is even watching the game anymore, its just a 'Just Chatting' stream with extra steps. Even once you get to endgame its like 10 hours of raiding on drop rate to get a drop in your name typically, and the gameplay in that 10 hours is just less interesting than playing an actual game.

UIM shouldn't be complaining about deathpiling, you've got it easy.

When UIM was first released it was actually difficult. You didn't have 1 hour despawn timers for items and it was a few minutes on death, no storage chests from various bosses and minigames, your PoH vanity chest was very limited on what it could hold, the only place to store coins was the NMZ coinpouch and even then many thought that was against the spirit of the gamemode back then. The Looting Bag was specifically Wilderness only and not Wilderness adjacent alongside not being able to decide what or how much of an item you could put in it. Deathpiling is just storage on the ground now-a-days.

Back when I played on a 1-Def UIM in 2015 I had to take care for what I had on me, what quests I had to do and what I could bring. There was constant sacrifice in both gear selection and having to re-obtain items I dropped because of those restrictions. I couldn't just kill myself and do whatever I wanted for the next hour and keep a half dozen piles of items indefinitely.

If I had to go into the Wilderness I had to bring everything with me. Since I was a 1-Def UIM I had to kill people in Bounty Hunter to earn the points needed for a Dragon Scimitar as you couldn't buy one once MM1 was completed, or go and kill Scorpia for the rare drop. I died attempting this to a g-mauler and lost everything but I continued on still.

I ended up being the first player in OSRS to kill an Abyssal Demon for the Abyssal Whip on a 1-Def UIM. I outpaced another 1-Def UIM with 99 Range cannoning in only 49 days creation time. I think only those that have played the gamemode as it truly was should comment on the mechanics of deathpiling. It was dumbed down to what it is today by the past bickering of people who don't enjoy a proper challenge.

I decided to PK to make some money after watching the 1B series from various streamers. I couldn't imagine that I would be that easy to make money on my return.

There's barely any pkers there, there's a player killing the boss in every world, the bots are not too hard to kill nor too quick to teleport. Average kills are 500k+. I'm surprised it's not more active pvp wise.

I'm level 123, I can attack 90% of the players doing the boss.

Made 50m in the last 2 days.

The third corner of the eclipse shield has a bug, I'm convinced, I don't use true tile, but I turned it on for the eclipse shield because I kept getting hit in that one spot specifically and would even match it for the first and second corners as well. I have no idea why it does that. Never had a problem with the inferno shield, it's pretty generous all things considered, even during the enrage. The biggest offender is the earth orb shield for the doom right now. You get a consistenly pathed, consistently spawned, 5x5 (fucking 7x7 for awakened) shield for leviathan; and then some dogshit, sometimes blocked, opposite of player pathing, 3x3, inconsistently spawned shield for the doom. That is the real bullshit right now

This is one of the worst games I've ever played in my life. How the fuck is it so popular? It has horrible visuals, horrible sound, bad controls which are 100% mouse driven and have a 0.6s delay to everything, the most forgettable and generic lore, the gameplay is literally the most mindnumbing repetitive shit I've ever seen... PvP and PvM is all based around abusing the shitty java engine from 2002... you literally can't make any progress whatsoever unless you make it your fulltime job and play minimum 8 hours a day... wtf man. Even retail WoW is better
