There is exactly one single problem with today's building in minecraft which can be seen in every professional build from medieval houses to cyberpunk and brutalist buildings. WINDOWS. Builders have to do some bullshit like making a window 3 blocks deep with a couple of layers of trapdoors. It's just hilarious. Just add customizable window frames

instead of always editing your original you can either build a new house as part of a town or build another base elsewhere

Load up a superflat creative world and just fuck around with blocks, stairs, walls, trapdoors, fences, etc etc
After a while you'll start seeing shapes and layouts you like, themes will appear and become staples in your builds which when used make it feel like your own thing and not something you took from someone else even if someone else has done it before
After that you can start messing with block types to see what colours and textures work well for you in your head, remember that builds should look good for you not anyone else
Fuck everyone else, build whatever you want as long as you like it
I suggest castles if you're having trouble with shapes of builds and worried about always making little boxes for houses
With castles you can make them whatever shape you want and don't have to worry too much about making a roof or an over designed interior as they are castles after all, pretty minimalist aesthetic
Throw down a few carpets, hang up a few banners, add logs to the ceiling to look like floor supports with log beams into the ground, some "chairs" and "tables" etc etc
You'll get it all eventually, might take some time but you'll get there
As I said just get a creative world going and just turn into a schizo placing whatever the fuck to see what sticks in your brain

I'm a little colorblind, and the fact that the torch texture is exactly the same (with only a subtle green tint now) makes it nigh indistinguishable from regular torches to me.

That texture was 100% drawn with the assumption that the items would be in the middle of the block. No experienced artist would make such a mistake otherwise. I'm guessing they moved the items down due to community feedback or some sort of last-minute idea, which is why I think it's likely that they'll change it back

I was thinking of doing something similar with an island I recently found, but I'm not sure I like the idea of just surrounding the terrain. I kind of want the walls to act as retaining walls, with the terrain on the inside being raised up a few blocks, but that might be too much work for too little payoff. I'm torn

I would love the idea of a dispenser, filled with an axe or a wall mounted stone carving (the one with the protruding bandsaw) to act as a means to automate oxidisation prevention.

Golem walks past dispenser with axe, gets auto shaved, continues down its route, and there will be a perpetually rotting Allay near it to keep the mending axe (or netherite axe unmended) permanently durable, and your network of slaves constantly working at ideal speeds.

I was thinking more about PROGRESSION. Specifically for brewing.

I'd use this one. The main problem with potions isn't their use, though, but rather the logistics. Unless we get stacking potions, most people simply won't bother with them as they're such a hassle. Even if they only stacked to 8 that would be an absolute game changer that would instantly revitalize interest in the mechanic

I do think that most people ignore potions because you just get brewing way too late to really matter. Like you gain access to brewing when are in the nether and probably have diamond stuff and on your way to getting netherite gear so pretty much nothing is even a threat outside of bosses which potions dont really help with much.
The few potions that I think people actually use are the good utility ones like fire resistance and water breathing but I'm not sure that making these stack would change much since it would still take up a slot from your cramped inventory.

I think you underestimate stacking potions. No-one's going to want to use half their inventory for potions, true, but two or three slots for something like night vision, underwater breathing and fire res? Im plotting out the frame of a castle, and I wanted a block that was bright but also easily poppable with a pick, and calcite fits the bill

This is how shelves look in the new bedrock preview, items/blocks now sit on the shelf like java and are generally smaller except for banners. I guess they kept them the same size after seeing the backlash on java, so perhaps they’re working towards a middle ground between the versions?

For marking out builds?

I may be retarded or just mentally incapable of explaining what I want to google so bear with me for a second.
I got a line of trapdoors holding back water and I want to send a redstone signal so they can open and close, I can't connect dust or repeaters directly to the block holding the trapdoors because the water will wash away the redstone, so I make a line of redstone for the signal and then I have to have a line of repeaters pushing the signal into cobblestone that keeps the line safe and dry. Pic related is the way I figured I could extend the lines without breaking the signal.
Was there a better / easier / less repeater-bleeding way of doing this?

My autism wanted the extender to be 1 block wide to stick to that redstone-on-the-stone design, then I tried the redstone under a block extender (pic) and that's when I ran into the water washing away the dust issue, that's why I put the stone between the redstone and the trapdoors and that's why the repeaters are where they are.

Now I got a 6-wide block mess but I covered everything under trapdoors and cobblestone and it looks prettier so I guess I'll stick to it.

To be fair, he literally admits in the comments that he fucked up and didn’t fully understand how they worked, and ended up doing way more work than necessary. There are legitimate issues though, what I’ve seen myself is that they REALLY want to be able to pathfind on top of chests before opening them, even if they can be opened from the side. This makes it really hard to put them in storage systems in any compact way. Pretty sure it’s mostly bugs, it wasn’t this bad in the previews

You can use invisibility. Sponges are used for clearing large chunks of water, such as in ocean monuments. Guardians only spawn in water, by the way. You have to dry the sponges first, though, so put them in a furnace or a hot place. I hope you found all the sponge rooms.

You can clear an ocean monument very quickly if you want. Use TNT to make holes in the top of the structure and the two wings, and you get quick access to all three elder guardians. The either drink milk to remove the debuff so you can mine, or use more TNT to get the blocks you want. Guardians are a pain, but they take a while to charge their beams and you can simply break line of sight to avoid getting hit. There's also guardians farms that are really easy to build, in case you need a lot of blocks
