There's almost no chance to meet cool, decent people - and even if you do there's a high likelihood the game will make you two drift apart because of bad gameplay performances or whatever. yeah it's one of the reasons why i literally just dont bother socializing with people in this game, the games matchmaking certainly changed since the mythics items and that was the time when people literally used to get bots in their ranked matches and started noticing chain losses and wins, stuff like professor didn't help either since people could blatantly see the tags that would reveal how one sided some of the games they ended up with were simply by the players rank, champ, activity (first game of the day), if the player was angry, autofilled, etc.
the players still strive to go against all odds and climb but i can imagine a lot of them being well aware the game has been a bit stale if not unsatisfactory compared to back then. it doesn't help the players you queue with and against have adopted becoming passive aggressive or only duo for their own self interest rather than the enjoyment of the game either. same with stuff like blatant smurfing and such. i think this was the only season where i would get matched with masters/grandmasters players as a casual player or rampant smurf accounts on my ranked games. everything feels ingenuine because it does feel like that is what you're working with.

literally everyone who plays this game goes through insane losing streaks or chain losses and wins atleast once so anyone who would claim the matchmaking isn't atleast somewhat of a rollercoaster probably doesn't play enough games to know or see the patterns.
i don't think anyone would really blame someone for getting pissed off for losing games but i'd certainly recommend just not feeding into the game and going on a downward spiral, typically i stop playing for the entire day after i lose ranked once or twice (or just keep playing ranked but on a different idc account) since as you said the duoing, meta abusing, etc doesn't always work out sometimes since the game is by design so objective oriented which makes it more team reliant which again makes for multiple one sided sweeps, like it's just out of your hand some days so not playing and feeding the game providing you bad engagement is still a good win. atleast for your sanity and potential lps losses.

I think competitive IRL sports are fun to watch because it's actually such a high level of unmatched play, coordination, athleticism and planning and so forth whereas even though esports are the same *on paper* - well, they just don't come off that way to me.
One of the things I'll say I have an issue with is how pretty much every Esports league, be it CS, League, Rocket League, whatever is trying to copy IRL sports' models instead of leaning into the players' actual real personalities and attitudes towards things. Every time I turn on Worlds/MSI when they come around for drops I can't help but to cringe so fucking hard when they play those heavy songs with the players making those cool smug faces or trying to hit athletic poses or doing the "shh" gesture or whatever and stuff and ye.
tl;dr - I think the REAL issue with Esports is how it's actually trying to become a "real" sport rather than branch off and become its own thing and allow itself to be its own thing essentially. It's doomed to fail anyway though. No game will have the longevity or "balance" real life sports do.
