I've been wondering about giving this a try, is it a bad time to start?
Yeah, I don't think I want to touch this game mode anymore. It's broken in a horrible way. The roguelite layer has unnecessarily restrictive buffs, the action layer is stupidly easy now and battles end after 2-3 basic attacks, both layers clash with each other, there's too much fluff text, whole levels are way too long.
The old 1.4 somnoire was waaaay superior. TPP only, you quickly move between battle zones, being unable to switch characters in the middle of the run forced you to pay attention to enemy attacks and the whole challenge had simple, steady flow. The complete overhaul was unnecessary. If they wanted to tell longer stories, they should have separated the "reading part" from the "gameplay part".

Or play Carty less optimally. Being able to kill stuff without transforming is liberating. She kills overworld mobs so quickly, I don't have to waste time when farming. Having the comfort of being able to play however I want is impossible to overrate. I can play her with whoever and she will still perform more than well enough. I don't need to worry about who's her BiS teammate or other silly things like that. When I'm feeling lazy, I can steamroll endgame content with her and not worry about having to try hard for rewards. Having a strong unit is awesome. I will always take that over having twenty s0 units, most of which would stay benched anyway. I'd rather focus on the ones I like the most and make sure they will remain relevant in the future.
If you love Phrolova, go for her s3.

Phrolova is the best aoe unit in the game now and aoe endgame just got tougher. You're set for a long time if you pull her and she will allow you to participate in endgame content at lower level than other playerswere able to. The only issue is farming her mats requires clearing all story but once you get there you're set and it's doable in a couple of days.

One is barely hanging on to single team where she has two alternatives but she was never really meta anyway. Everybody else is perfectly usable and often in multiple various comps.
Starter account simply gives you advantage of extra 2-3 limtieds to start with but if you don't like the thought, that's perfectly fine too. New players can easily farm like 300 rolls in a couple of weeks from all the permanent content and they have access to special New Voyage banner where they can choose rate up limitedfrom first 8 in the game.
My recommendation in case yo uwant to play your own account would be:
1) grab Phrolova
2) if she drops early, grab her signature weapon too
3) if you like Cantarella, pull her from next banner (she's the best partner for Phrolova and usable with some other units)
4) if you don't go for Cantarella, definitely get Shorekeeper from New Voyage banner (she's the best healer/buffer in the game, BiS in half of teams, decent option in every team) - desu she might be worth grabbing even if you do pick up Cantarella
5) if you didn't grab Phrolova's sig, pick up stringmaster from New Voyage weapon banner

Though you can also have those in long hair as well like two-side up (zhezhi) and just a sidetail like phoebe, or ones that just stay in the hair with no purpose. They are just more natural in twintails (you basically need one, might as well make cute) and it will be visible in the front and back unlike ponytails.

Started back at the end of the anniversary event, pretty much done everything now except:
- Cube event
- Companion quests
- The higher difficulties of the hologram challenges (VI Crownless, Inferno Rider and IV+ on the newer ones)
Game is fun, I'm kinda bummed about being out of content to do now but that was inevitable. Time to just login daily for the grind and do companion quests when I feel like it I guess.
