How did Amphoreus fail to be as good?

Well first of, it wasn't a unique creative story, it was simply a copy version of fc in a different light with even less depth or sense, solely betting on it's sale value by it's tourists fans who gloat it even though the story it's based on (ER and EE) are the worst arcs of Honkai Impact 3rd.
Secondly, characters have no selling points. They're just there. You have no reason to like them or root for them.
Thirdly, elysia was the main push with cyrene having no difference from her and just being copy pasted while others were meant to hide behind and let her carry them which she couldn't simply because she has nothing going for her either.

No matter how many stories elysia and fcs get, they'll always be extremely bad and 3rd rate simply because the premise and characterization for them itself makes no sense and is too depthless to stand on it's on or even make a decent stand alone story. It's not even capable of that.

That's the unfortunate part about Elysia reception-wise. Even popular but controversial with massive hatedom characters like Broly at least have many Dragon Ball real fans and not tourists. Elysia's a very weird case where so may of her own "fans" get her so glaringly wrong it's obvious they didn't pay attention to her nor anything relevant to her as a whole.

The irony about Elysia is she's caused me to be the closest I've ever been to dropping.

You know, I kinda understand why they hate us now.

Honestly, one of my biggest problems is we never see her develop. We never saw her earlier years or how she became the present all-loving pink Jesus. She's a very static character without much in character conflicts in a game where so many of the main and side characters are actively developing or conflicted characters. So many other characters suffer or undergo conflict for their beliefs and she never seems to falter but I haven't seen any development for Elysia to reach this state.

Amphoreus story is dragged down by a very lackluster cinematography, out of all three major hoyoverse games Amphoreus story is the longest one yet and also the most boring in this front making the experience worse than intended.

I feel like they just started focusing too much on extrapolating the setting/worldbuilding aspect to a point where they just forget to explore the personalities, struggles and relationships between characters. Like how everyone just somehow likes Elysia, including the one who supposedly likes hurting people (it's ok he's a good boy underneath the mask), but doesn't really explain why.
All that technobabble and dragged out story is a result of this.
Makes all that shit a pain in the ass to go through when you feel like you're reading a glossary of terms with how much made up jargon they come up with especially when you're a fucking gacha game making profits by selling your CHARACTERS. But hey, people still eat it up.

Basically the entire drama is because 0 cycle trannies (basically the speedrunners) are mad they can't do speedrun through endgame because she's immediately busted like the last support based characters we got (tribbie and hyacine). Though her kit has issues (charge time takes a long time if you're using remembrance based teams) and is basically remembrance support more than not!flamechasers, her buffs are vary from good to dogshit and people are also mad that she's more of a castorice slave at present even though her buff is weaker than like 4-5 other named characters

tl;dr: she's good for what she does but isnt gamebreaking and flawed unlike the last 2 supports we got but will probably be better if hoyo shits out more remembrance units (highly unlikely)

I'd go as far to say it would've been better if ER did that. Sim-Hua is a less experienced version of her present self but Kebin's the same cryptic stoic man. We don't explore his more innocent and cheery past self or anything and his sim is mostly just there anyway.

I think that Shaoji just writes TB to be stupid in order to justify shifting focus away from them and to have the perspective flips. If TB was allowed to be competent then he wouldn't be able to justify things like focusing on Phainon and treating him like a main character. Shaoji was in charge of both Penacony and Amphoreous where TB is forced to be incompetent. I feel like Shaoji just want to write for his ocs and doesn't want to write for any of the main characters, but this time he was forced to because of Dan and March's alts, but he forgot about them. And this is exasperated by the fact that he doesn't seem to plan out his stories and think ahead while adjusting the earlier story so that it better serve the climax.

A problem with HSR in general is that because you obtain TB alts during story progression, there's no banner sales from shilling TB besides indirectly if some unlikely other character item works well for TB. This means TB will almost always get writer-mandated incompetence so much to shill other characters that the players just assume TB is a buffoon and any time TB looks smart seems weird. In HSS, Belobog and the first Luofu quest, TB wasn't this dumb but by now he is. I had a friend who complained about the TB voicelines in 3.6 breaking his immersion because they were spouting a lot of ‘profound’, poetic lines. Amphoreus has that problem altogether where characters would rather spew poetic lines out of nowhere regardless if it fits the character or not.

When I left, I was still in chapter 31. I still don't like Elysia, but ER is the most fun game mode and my trusted Starcasm Nyx and Stygian Nymph can still clear all of it. It's great to see that there's apparently a lot of yuri going on in part 2, but I still want to finish what's left of part 1. I am sad because Helia and Coralie's arcs prove the writers can still do character development and especially for Helia whose past role was more or less just there and to be a Durandal fangirl. In spite of this, they still don't give Durandal or Elysia some big character development arc, including a flashback to show them in their younger and less experienced years. I haven't seen any HSR character arcs as good, and Amphoreus really could've used Phainon or Cyrene getting an arc that good and personal rather than 8 patches of nothing. This all leads to a common point about Mihoyo. They can do better. They just willfully don't.

Okay, apparently I'm on my 5th day of returning and just saw that there's a late P1 Herrscher box for 1680 Chips which includes Herrscher Seele.
Her weapon is also guaranteed in 60 pulls and I have like 40 pulls as of now. Those stigmata are no big deal since they are also in the foundry. I lack the mats to upgrade all of this immediately anyway...
