I don't. I think it's pretty mediocre as a cgdct show and unremarkable as a band show. It fails as both. At least k-on s2(s1 was meh) was a soulful cgdct show. The only reason it got popular is the protagonist is enough of a socially awkward loser for people to go "literally me" without actually grossing them out and the character animation is pretty good.

It's kinda true. I mean LLJ is legitimately great compared to Zako Reboot in terms of plot, setting, and characters so I hate to criticize it too much. They legit did a good job.

But you can tell that they effectively made an all-ages common route with easily removable h-scenes in response to western pressure. When I played Amairo Islenauts there were titties EVERYWHERE in the common route. It was kind of shocking to go back to an older title and see how much they've changed. Thanks a lot, Visa. You financially manipulated another foreign company into conforming to western values.

I mean, yeah, it's inevitably going to get compared to the titles that came immediately before it, and LLJ looks very good in that comparison. Yuzusoft has made a lot of progress in their production values, and their newer games are better in a lot of ways. No one wants to go back to early 2000s ge with awful systems and 800x600 resolution.

It's just sad that along with the genuine improvements, they lost so much of their original eroticism in a quest to make more money from a wider audience. I think the huge international success of Senren Banka was like a crossing the Rubicon moment where Yuzusoft realized they couldn't focus exclusively on the Japanese market anymore. Capitalism ruins everything it touches, melting it down into bland, indistinguishable slop. It's the same thing that happened to Blizzard after World of Warcraft: there was simply too much money in the new cash cow to justify feeding the old cow that had SOVL.
