The entire point of his canto is him opening up eventually, Daiyu was simply thrown under the bus because Director couldn't be arsed to give a shit about her because if the flashback beam didn't exist he would have had another character to actually consider for the rest of the canto and how her scarred relationship with Hong Lu was going to affect everything else and eventually be resolved. This is simply garbage writing with nothing redeemable about it, easily one of the worst things director has ever done to a character in this game.

You know anon, it's almost like there was an entire period during the canto where Jia Mu and the elders were completely powerless and how the Heisho were completely immobilized, I remember that being somewhat of a big plot point and the moment they used for Hong Lu to finally open up about what he truly wants.
Except at this point of time the game decided that Xichun was 1000x more important of a character than Daiyu could ever be because of how director wrote everything else.
This isn't a Xichun sucks post or anything, but don't make any excuses for bad writing by bringing up situations that easily could have been written in a different way, that's the writers job.

You can technically do the same with Mayors but it's to a much lesser extent than book characters.

I have to say one of my favorite parts about Limbus is that even though its a gacha you can still just fuck off if you're a veteran player and come back whenever you feel like it. You hoard enough to spark a walpurgis unit, get your box stash going and you're done, no need to force yourself to do dailies every single day like the other games in the genre.
