I just finished the first pdf and so far it does an amazing job at trying to capture the elements of dungeon crawler games while adding some unsettling visuals like pic related. "aspect of the dream" has to be my favorite monster design so far after going through it. The crescent moon being part of its head is a good touch.

the design or appearance of a character/monster means much more than simply surface-level information. what I mean by this is that you can glean a lot about them by studying how they look.

i'll start with Bendy as he is easier to define. Bendy, the villain of the game, is an ever-present force that you can't fight against, only hide or run, and even then, running is risky, as the devs decided to nerf the movement speed. pricks.
Now, in the final confrontation, Bendy decides to bulk up his torso and arms, and shrink his legs (a curious but ultimately retarded decision) to fight the protagonist. I will remind you that the protagonist is an old man who worked in an animation studio. He was never a fighter.

What about Bane? Bane isn't scary because he is muscular and big. That is a key aspect of his design, yes, but brute force and muscles aren't enough to make a compelling villain. Bane is scary because he's one of the few people to can match Batman's wits. He is brawl AND brains combined. that's why I consider him to be the true nemesis of Batman. (we can discuss if the Owlman or the Joker fits better, but I like to think they represent different things about Batman.)

my point is, if your scary monster is muscular and bulky, that will tell me it is strong. its not gonna tell me everything about it, but it will be enough to understand that it can tear me to pieces. The problem with this is that the absence of information is what defines horror, so if the monster looks weak, then it will force you to ask yourself, "why is it a threat?" which would be followed by it proving why it is a threat. it will still be able to kill you while looking like your average starving african

the other reason why i picked absolute bane here to support both my point and yours because while there are characters that's straight-forward in the horror aspect but would to fall flat like Bendy's bulk tank form, absolute bane's horror factor is his intelligence that can match batman and the ability to hit pressure points and precisely to break bones without getting anything vital. you could also apply this to something like chucky if a monster is small and holds a knife telling me that it's going to cut me down by some means. I can understand Joker, but Bane himself I can see him as a true nemesis that few media dont get right except for a few like batman arkham origins.

so what about a monster that looks weak yet have people are anxious about it? there is a stand by the name of survivor. it looks like a couple of disk with faces and yet it doesn't do anything physically. its more of what it does to people in its vicinity. it gives out small electric jolts to stimulate the brain, causing people to get angry. the results are battle hungry maniacs that would rip each other apart until someone dies.

the "more than it meets the eye" aspect imo works with absolute bane since most people who'd know bane on a surface level nowadays would see him as a all brawn no brain brute when he's capable of killing you in various ways possible than just smashing your skull. even something like the survivor stand that looks weak compared to others can be a credible threat

If your going to tell me a story about a creepy fangame, either would be more busy thinking about why you didn't just make one or be confused as to why you didn't just say this was a loose concept for a game at the start(because honestly, thats all it is).

the winter theme is what I was talking about in the art, as well as the lack of dialogue. Did anyone watch the final Interloper episode? If so, what are your thoughts about it?

Personally, I'm kind of... disappointed in it? When I first saw it, it did something that you rarely see an ARG actually do. Not only have multiple instances of proof been shown, such as "gameplay", but it did became technical, but not to the point where it became techno-babble.

So it felt like the creator knew what he was doing, or at least was passionate about it, but the more episodes were released, the more I started to feel like it was leading nowhere. I'm aware that this ARG is basically an interactable fictional investigation, which does take a long time as it is trying to be realistic, yet even with that in mind, the feeling of engagement and wonder was starting to slowly die, episode by episode.

And then the final episode came, and I felt nothing. It was pretty... weird, or maybe it was vague? IDK, maybe I'm too retarded to comprehend it, but if the comments are correct, the ending is poetic due to Anomi falling for the same pitfalls as Eida did, which... still does not satisfy me. Perhaps I put too much faith in it?

Sometimes I like it when the design can stray away from the source material if it can be well executed especially the iron maiden chest on Furnace, but I'm not really a fan of the Starved take while Furnace just looks like if Metal was made with a pile of scrap.

I drove him to school, and he didn’t say a word the whole time. He was acting like a robot; listless, unemotional.

When I picked him up, he was the same. I asked him several questions, but he only gave me grunts in response. The plan at home was to get him changed out of his dirty clothes and then take him to the doctor.
