Right side seems the most solid but the meta is probably gonna be maxxing out the Stamina upgrades first on the top line and then branching out. If the 'Equipped Weapon Encumbrance' perk lowers the movement speed penalty you when using a weapon the Condition Tree might be good too but otherwise it's not that great.

Hunt is a a completely different game. It barely feels like an extraction shooter.
Try Tarkov whenever 1.0 releases other than that there are no extractions shooters worth playing anymore.
The extraction shooter that felt the most similar to this one was The Cycle: Frontier but that's been dead for a while.

I feel like the resource requirements for higher tiers of equipment outweigh the extra functionality. Healing items for example that heal ~2x the amount will cost ~3.5 - 4 times the resources. I get that you're saving some space that way too, but it just stops feeling worth it.

This is easily one of the most immersive games of all time. Playing this game solo is a total sensory experience, it's a real accomplishment.
I haven't been this 'in' a game in years, and I play stupid survival crafters with full loot drops, so I already know what 'tension' is. AR is something else entirely, it's a real fucking adventure every time, scrounging for items, crafting extra meds, running out of ammo and having to sneak around for real in a robot dense (blue wall) nightmare.

Trios are faggot shit where you just blast everything and turtle up in a loot room, but solo is magical anything goes insanity. Sure you're probably not going to kill a bastion on your own, but that's fine.

If Embark is still employing the previous guy who handled their audio SFX when they were the actual DICE team, I'd assume they were responsible. I remember the audio and SFX in BF1 was crisp and immersive as fuck.

It seems weird to me that "The level destruction guys" didn't have terrain destruction in this game. Maybe it's just too much shit for the engine to handle all at once, or too much work?

Ex-console user that owns a dozen consoles but now plays mostly on a 5k PC with duel OLED screens but still sticks to controller on PC guy here.

Controller feels a little like an after thought in this game. There's no way to remap buttons which is a notable disadvantage mostly because Slide/Roll is stuck on B button and Inventory is stuck on Select. Which means you're always moving your finger away from the sticks for 2 of the most commonly pressed actions in the game. They should have been on Right Stick press and the DPad. They're not which means there's always going to be a delay compared to keyboard users. You can make up for it if you have a controller with mappable back buttons, but you shouldn't have to be forced into that work around. Navigating the inventory is also more clunkier compared to Mouse. Aim assist is decent enough. It's not CoD/Halo levels but it's a slower paced game so it can be manageable after some tweaking in the settings.

Embark doesn't have the greatest rep when it comes to controller. They gutted it in The Finals shortly after launch which crashed and burned the console population. Considering this kind of game needs to maintain a healthy player pop it's wait and see if they can improve some of the controller shortcomings.

I have a bunch of hours in Hunt, but I'd say it's very easy to dip your toes while soloing because of how fast you can fill up an inventory with loot (especially on a free raider). It's almost a double edged sword because it's easy to fill up your pack before you even do anything interesting. One nice thing about soloing is that (at least right now) you'll have a good percentage of friendly encounters with other solos if you just voip or spam the "don't shoot" emote. That said, you can definitely die very fast if you're caught unawares, especially if you're new to the genre.

More successful than not, and I've never had a happy wholesome friendly elevator ride out. Usually I'll call the elevator, wait a moment nearby to size up any gank attempts, kill any obvious lurkers nearby, and then just smoke grenade a terminal inside the escape elevator to ride home successfully. You can also keep using the escape terminal while taking damage from grenades, etc, in the smoke, so at high health/shields, you can just plow through blindfire attacks unless they're physically in the escape bunker with you gunning at you from the one interior angle that isn't shielded on the kiosks

More than most in the genre, but the TTK while "long" is still relatively fast if you let people maul you with a rifle headshots or close range shotgun assaults. You'll survive initial ambush attacks and have enough time to respond before the deathblow if you're quick witted. Try to burn the idea of fairness here out of your brain a bit though since everyone in this genre fights like an underhanded faggot and you should be doing the same by ambushing, using traps, third partying when they're fighting other players/ARCs, etc. Doing this also helps you much better understand risk and the likelihood of being ambushed when and where

Early game solo can be a brutal. Every single robot enemy can knock you down to half health in seconds and heals can be hard to come by. Starting weapons don't have much ammo without upgrades. Unless you land perfect headshots or weak spot shots, both players and robots can sponge a full mag from every starter weapon so your spending valuable time reloading a slow ass weapon to finish off someone which is plenty of time for a surprise 3rd party to fuck you over from either player or ai.

It was the best pve experience I've had in years and it's entirely because this is a pvp game. Meeting accidentally and choosing not to shoot is something special. The devs tuned arc just right and incentivized the option enough. It's hilarious every time I make a buddy, lose him for a sec, bump into a random I mistake for my buddy, and we just strike up conversation about lemons or whatever. This game's amazing if you ever liked how extraction shooters weren't pvp mandatory. Nothing against murderhobos, that's the other side of the coin and totally fair, but if you bring defibs and use voip you can be the god of the solo playground.

That's part of the fun. Fights that get third partied get hectic quick. TTK being generous means you've often got time to react and play the game, make quick decisions under pressure, etc. My favorite fights have been pushing and getting pushed with third parties and ARC showing up. It's incredibly fun to be involved in a firefight and to have ARC show up like the cops. Everyone scatters into cover. One time we both worked together to kill the ARC and then turned back to hunting each other through the old town on blue reach. Some of the most fun I've ever had in an FPS.

I grouped up with two other guys impromptu in solo queue and we managed to kill the one that patrols around the elevator on dam by swapping aggro and kiting it around one of the nearby buildings. They're actually kinda trivial with three people as long as you stay near enough that it doesn't leap but far enough that you don't get zapped. Aim for the legs.

I think it's well balanced. If you want it to go quicker for now safety, you have to heavily invest in the looter side of the skill tree and give up the combat side. It's designed for a slower stealthy style which will give you the drop on the combat zoomer guys.

I fought one at the water processing elevator. There's a bunch of metal dumpsters near there that you can squeeze inbetween and it seems its AI can't deal with you running around those tight spaces.

I didn't try to kill it because I was on a free loadout but I easily survived waiting for the elevator by juking it between those containers. Didn't get hit once.

Bombardiers and Leapers are free loot if you have a squad and you all bring snapblasts, but rocketeers dodge and weave like crazy so sticking em is nearly impossible- you pretty much have to bring 2 wolfpacks to down them. Which isn't cost effective.

I think so. It just feels like a more complete game, and the pvevp gameplay loop rocks. High ttk means you almost always have a chance to win any engagement even if you get shot in the back out of nowhere. It's a buzzword, but the Arc themselves make for tons of zany emergent gameplay situations where you'll have multiple squads fighting each other while rocketeers, Bombardiers, leapers, etc turn the battlefield into a straight kill zone.

And to top it off, the game is optimized beautifully. Embark may be the most competent Unreal engine users on the planet (all my homies hate lumen and nanite)

MTX are expensive and fuck ugly though. To be fair.

You could try a delay tactic
When you call the elevator, it takes 30 seconds to arrive
Then it will stick around for 2 minutes before automatically returning, which can be sped up by activating the computer terminal inside
So you could trigger the elevator, hide, wait for it to arrive, then wait 90 seconds to make sure nobody's going to camp you
Then run in - even if you get downed, you can still return automatically

This is my first extraction game and I have a retarded question - what's the loop? I think I'm missing something. Like I don't get what's the progress here. I go upside, i loot a few places and extract - I don't really understand the loot to be honest. I salvage so I could fit more but there's so few slots it's literally 5 min matches. Like I get that I could search for better quality loot but is that it? I then also feel discouraged to take actual good stuff with me, I just abuse the free kit. I imagine if I find good gear, like a weapon I wouldn't want to take it since I'll just lose it.
