defense scaling is just truly awful. you get 1 defense for every 3 attack you get from affinity. defense equipment tends to give you 20-40 defense, while attack equipment gives you 50-70 attack. her multipliers don't compensate for the discrepancy, either.
vulture ejection being cast on other actually good cards is her only saving grace, speaking frankly. don't get me wrong, this is a good and useful interaction, and it's nice that silver veil actually does have a good multiplier (400%)...
but exhaust is a common mechanic in the game, too. it doesn't take that much team building and deck building to spend 1 or even 0 AP to cast every single brand of annihilation in your hand for free, and an individual brand of annihilation has the multiplier of roughly equal to a vulture ejection + silver veil proc while being attack scaling instead of defense scaling.
this is all not to forget that kayron also has competitive single target damage and contributes a surprisingly high amount of healing.

how he plays is on a epiphany basis, as he has large range of viable epiphanies that each push him towards individual playstyles.
if you want to focus on his AoE, you can run a sub-DPS like tressa. she bolster your single target damage heavily while also being the easiest partner to enable free or cheap brands of annihilation.
you could instead go for cassius, who will give you a lot more consistency on your brands of annihilation showing up, but his ability to discount, while there thanks to his quest cards, is much weaker than tressa's. he's also not going to provide much damage.
if you want to focus on his single target, he's a lot more generic. you could pretty much look at any random mei lin team comp online and substitute mei lin for kayron and you'll pretty much be set.
