Like, I'm standing here hammering on right and it only targets the guy right behind me maybe 1 out of 4 presses, and snaps back to the guy in front whenever it's not.
In testing just now I guess it wants you to hold the direction, which is probably better with the stick but fuck that, but with both stick and d-pad it's still sluggish as hell and takes a solid half-second to point where I'm telling it to anyway.

I think my biggest problem with Umbraclaw was the furry form. It sucked, just plain worse than regular cat. The game was plainly designed around the invincible dash and being evasive and sneaky, both in stages and boss fights; losing that dash in favor of an attack button isn't a good trade at all. I got the best(?) ending on the first playthrough not by trying to go for it, but just because furry mode was much less fun.

It's good, I like it. It's got it's issues, but I'm not very far and still figuring it out, so can't really give it flak for much yet.
The demo made it seem like you'd just hammer the setsuna button and dash-slash through entire stages, but that's not true at all. There's rooms like that, but it's still mostly actual platforming and combat and stuff. If anything just mashing setsuna is something that will get you punished.

This is without considering how stupid Astralization is (you get the same movement as an Anthem GV, which means you can just cheese with infinite jumps and air dashes).

This is correct for the Japanese version of the game. Penta refers to HERSELF as a prince and a boy. But the game itself DOES NOT acknowledge and the promo material outright states that she is a woman.

The English version of the game takes every opportunity to refer to her as a he. The other character use male pronouns for her, as do the tooltips, descriptions, etc. Which was a conscious bad faith decision
