The decline after the success of niji s1 and 2 sales imo had to do with the death of all the games. Even if they were flopping, they still offered people another entry point to learn more about characters. Killing all the other games creates a lack of trust from fans and some just abandon the series for a competitor. Symphogear and Revue gachas were flops but they still maintained a playerbase, once they died it feels like those series went down with it.
