I admit I'm no /kdg/ regular and only visit every few months. But I'm no fake fan, I've played every game except for the spin-offs on Switch because I didn't own the console. I scanned two volumes of the Mo~PuPu corocoro manga a decade ago, and still encounter reaction images taken from those scans (mostly Taranza and Marx). The OG Air Ride has 8 alternate colors for each character.
As it stands, the biggest number of colors belongs to Kirby, at 6. All 6 contain the original colors SAVE for Brown. If we conclude that Brown is an unlockable due to this then that leaves one extra slot for one extra, never-before seen color.

I tried out kirby's dreamland 2 today and I have not been so frustrated with a kirby game before.

I think it'd be fun if Adelein left a paint trail behind her so drafting her slows people down rather then speeds them up, but that might be overpowered unless it's her special and I think something with ribbon is more likely as her special

What annoys me is bringing a buddy/ability from another level when it's very easy to lose them with what I mentioned above even when not rushing. Dreamland 2 was one of the first video games I played as a kid, and I was able to 100% it because I had plenty of time to kill. Some puzzles are trickier than others when they require you to bring an ability from outside the level and avoid dropping it, or Dark Castle requiring you to replay it to learn the correct sequence of doors leading to the rainbow piece. It can be frustrating at times because it's not as pretty a game as the NES and SNES Kirbies.
And yet, modern Kirby games rub me the wrong way with handing you the exact abilities needed to solve puzzles. I actually miss the KDL2 trial-and-error flavor.

When games such as Robobot suddenly referenced KDL2 of all games, it made me happy. Dark Castle is really memorable, and so is the final boss. I'd ask you to keep playing a bit more before dropping it in favor of watching a let's play.

Physics wise, it's much easier. I remember being caught off guard by the sheer difficulty around some of Super Star's normal bosses. Also, the Drop Stars do contact damage in the original game, something I sort of wish they carried over.
Ultra might have an argument of difficulty with its extra content, but I suspect the True Arena would've been much worse if it was actually integrated into the SNES format.
