You people have to be terminally retarded. This monster hunter update is not the big update that is coming. This is a side event that is mostly just art and a very small amount of development time. In case you retards are not aware, art and development are generally handled by different people entirely. Not to mention there has been data mined from this update that is pointing towards a much larger update yet to come. When valve released the Quartero's Curios thing, they made it clear they would continue to run these mini events for cosmetics that will take center stage while the bigger content updates are in the works. The monster hunter event is just season 2 of the Quartero's Curios basically. The real update is very likely only a couple weeks away at most

In fact, and you can screencap this, there will be a new hero released prior to the end of the monster hunter event as there is already assets for said new hero that will be used in the monster hunter event

Capcom has said to continue their 1 million dollar tournaments as their main plan for their "tours" as Street fighter 6 continues to be the only fighting game with this prize pool (excluding 2xko)

Valve is doing nothing with the ip, no Underlords and no Artifact. Each time they try doing something in-house with Dota, it flopped. But they have years of experience running tournaments and reading contracts. Valve no longer runs the international themselves personally, but whatever Capcom has in their papers, theyre doing something attractive in valves eyes.

Many people for sure play fighting games at Valve, most testing for steam deck were fighting games, even icefrog himself is incredibly likely a player himself in the fighting game world.

before 2011, no tournament no company was insane enough to reward nerds playing video games for a living, not even starcraft/2, all payment was done only through SOME of the winnings, good enough koreans were on a salary to play starcraft. Valve's announcement of Dota 2 and the prize pool shook the world. Players from every genre far and wide, for almost 3 years straight, since the announcement have all tried to move into dota, for it's complexity, because it has valve on it, or for the possible 1 million from playing. that's a fact.

But players were not the only ones making the shift. Streamers, Twitch/justintv, casters, all adapted Dota's style of culture in some way or another to make profit. Organizers wanted to be an iron grip over team players. Game companies wanted to understand what dota is, not the game play but the data on player habits, spending etc. A lot of what valve did at the time was not common or done at all.

Lack of a gameplay update aside, this might be the most disappointing way possible to do a Monster Hunter collab in dota 2.

Look at the sets. First of all, there are only 6 of them. And you know what? Fine.

There are monsters IN this fucking game, Valve.

What about Broodmother as Lala Barina? Nyx Assassin as Nerscylla? Winter Wyvern as Velkhana? Primal Beast as Brachydios?

One of the most appealing parts of Monster Hunter is...THE MONSTERS. And there isn't a single set in the game that makes any of the heroes look like any of the most iconic monsters in the series.

Edit: I did not see the part where you can pay to give DK the Rathalos form. I guess that's nice, but it claims to give extra effects, sounds, et cetera - it sure sounds normal to me when I demo it. Any high MMR niggas can give me advice on heroes? So I've been playing shit like Tide, Mars and Shaker. My WR on Tide is good but noticed that I lose or draw a lot of lanes on him. Same shit on Mars and Shaker. I almost never win lanes. While on some other heroes I do. Should I play the heroes that I can win lanes on, that don't get bullied so easy like LC(I have 16 won lanes on her, 4 draws and 4 loses in last 25 matches)? On Shaker I'm just getting raped in lane cause he can't do shit to most heroes unless it's really favourable lane.

I'm at low ranks, so most 4's wing it. They are passive as fuck, while I'm getting 1 vs 2. They do absolutely nothing in lane and are allergic to buying any regen, sentries or even right clicking or using spells. They just wander off like zombies. Unsure what to do. Mars or Shaker can't really a lot when you're getting fucking 1 vs 2. On LC I just slam Q and the core gets bullied and sits down like a dog while I can last hit, denny and go on support. 4's are also more likely to do something when I'm able to chip down enemy. But that's my problem mostly on Mars and Shaker. That enemy seems my support is passive and they go on me.

Don't be aggresive, don't waste mana on fissure unless you really need it. I've won a lot of lanes by doing so actually, you just dont fall behind and the enemy WILL make a mistake, trust me. Dont trust your support, dont get baited into random shit. Scale, get your blink. You can get kills early with ult, before blink, if the opponents aren't tracking your exp and stand near creeps.

That's another issue I have with those team oriented or teamfigh oriented heroes. I have shit WR on them. With exception of Tide and Underlord. On Undrrlord I win more lanes doe. But on Mars I have 160 matches and 36% WR cause nobody follows after my initiation even when I ping to go in or counter initiate. With Shaker it's a tad better cause it's above 40% but I have less matches on him. On Tide I have 180 matches and 54% WR. But I'm just curious is if I should stick to heroes that click for me more like DK, Axe, LC, Under and Centaur and etc. Instead of hoping that I will maybe somehow figure Shaker and Mars. Some sauce I'm missing.

As pos 4 you're supposed to trade with the enemy, disrupt their stacking and pulling, stack and pull on your own if possible, contest camps and get last hits when your core can't, harrass the enemy core as much as possible, protect your core from being harrassed, smoke and gang mid if your mid has a bad match up, ward and deward mid, always look for a tp if your teammates are in a fight near the tower or maybe not near but if you can join them and tip the scales of a fight you should tp anyway. Just pick one hero you like the most. Getting good involves learning how to play into bad matchups. Over time, you will develop strategies that let you get the most out of a bad situation. If you play pos3, and want an evergreen hero, I suggest Axe. He's both strong in lane, farms really quickly, can set the tempo for the match after he opens up his tower, and can solo win teamfights. The only thing he can't do is push.

On one hand, there has clearly been effort put into this. The hunting minigame, the logs, the log artwork. The skins look decent while still being recognisable as the hero.
On the other hand, the fact that effort is present makes me think of the stuff that could have been in the game if they gave more of a shit. The hero choices for skins kinda disappointing. I'd much rather have a nercylla broodmother, or even drow ranger over fukin' sniper. Where's my primal beast/deviljho arcana!? The skin variations aren't based on in-game monster variants which is annoying. e.g: the windranger zinogre armour doesn't have a Stygian variant, the kirin armour doesn't have a orochi kirin scheme. The rathalos skin behind a paywall is a dick move, and said rathalos skin not changing forms based off facet is such a wasted opportunity. You've already ported the barioth model in and made him fly around, would it really be that difficult to attach that to the dk skin for ice and rathian for poison? Shit, go crazy and port in gore magala for the black dragon and espanias for the green dragon, the models are there!

Pokedex is 131 heroes. You get 10x11% for a loss, or 100% + 9x33% per win, so that's 1.11 hero per loss, or 4 heroes a win. At 50% winrate, that's 2.55 heroes a game so that's 52 games (more like 130+ lmao).

And who the fuck knows with drops. They are RNG, and nobody knows the drop rates. They probably tuned it so you need 2-3 games a day for the next 3 months they give us to finish all the crafting, just like the Quartero shit, so you can expect it to take about 100-200 games. I played League over 10 years ago. What is the fastest possible way I can learn the bare basics of Dota 2 an d its itemization? Has anybody done any videos or something? Dota is built as a re-implementation of 90s-2000s era RTS games. So familiarity with those systems is a basic requirement. A lot of things that you will stumble through and fumble will be things that were "obvious" in those games. Like control groups, and damage and armour types (e.g. piercing, siege, etc.).

Do the tutorials. They are somewhat broken and buggy but they get you through the basics of unit control and give you time to practice moving around and using shit. You are trying to hit the ground running without understanding the basic fundamentals of how the game engine and units work and that is just going to fuck you.

Then I guess there's the "Welcome to Dota, you suck" video you can watch.

I awoke. First of all, I miscalculated the free shit you get from atlas. The last 5 entries are just stickers. So I had to add them back to the final count.
Second, for hitting lvl 40 you get four vouchers - one courier, one pig, two prismatic (equivalent to one set's final style). I deduct those from the recipes. Then, I consider one voucher = 6 rares, as per trade-up. In reality it's gonna take more than that because they probably have an equal chance of appearing, and you need 10 (minus the free 2) prismatic vouchers as opposed to 4 courier and 4 pig ones (again, minus the free ones) while they have a 33% chance of appearing (presumably) so you're gonna have to do a lot of recipe crafting (3 materials of same type for same rarity). (Although if you can't get back any of the ones you've crafted then I'm guessing putting in for example 2 pig vouchers and 2 courier vouchers would always give you the prismatic voucher. Maybe.) I'm not dwelving into calculations this deep though, I only want to present the final count. There's gonna be a lot of crafting necessary to get the final recipes anyway so whatever the actual number of necessary games will be, you can probably increase by like 20% to temper expectations.

Anyway - the final count, assuming 1 voucher = 6 rares, seems to be:

I convert everything into uncommons - 6 commons is 1 uncommon. 1 rare is 6 uncommons.
That makes the total 1537 uncommons.

My 1 win is 5.5 uncommons. A won hunt would be 12 uncommons.
This means the total amount of WINS you have to have is, rounded up, 280.
Divided by 85 days left (86 but I'm inserting some leeway for timezones etc.), that means 3.29 wins A DAY.

HOWEVER, doing hunts accelerates it, as one hunt is equivalent to more than 2 wins.
I would need some info on how much shit you get from losses to tell you the amount of games you have to play a day on average.

It isn't that much more complex and a lot of stuff seems like it's streamlined now compared to when I played constantly. If you don't want to worry about the courier, Turbo automates it and it is unkillable, however XP and gold gain is boosted really hard which means you're going to quickly be dealing with enemy heroes hitting their stride and getting up to bullshit.
There's a New Player Mode matchmaking that I've never done but apparently it culls the hero roster down and matches you with other new players. You can also just play bot matches. The bots were pretty good back when I brought my friends over from League in 2012 or so, Earthshaker bot fucked them up and taught them what real stuns are. Probably the hardest thing they and I had to get used to was how lethal fights can be from minute 0.
There are tons of hero guides in-game you can read outside of match and in, the good ones have explanations for the item purchases and whatnot.

I've switched to Dota from League this year and I'm Ancient now. Watch youtube videos, play every hero at least once so you know what they do, follow torte's guides. Yes, it would be much more optimal to build items accordingly to the situation in your games but you need experience to know what to build when. I don't think anything compares to the high flyer movement heroes in Deadlock. Grappling around with Lash and sticking a clean whole-team Death Slam probably tops any feeling I have in Dota. Unfortunately, Deadlock is so much fucking harder than Dota. I can have a good time in Dota just taking it easy but I have to be leaning forward sweating the entire time in Deadlock. I think I've just played the most retarded assfaggots game I've ever played. We were up against this PL that literally would not die, like ever, at all. We had pretty much zero disables so he could just roam freely and do whatever the fuck he liked, eventually he carried their entire team and died literally only 4 times in a 47 minute game. Countless of times we were 4 or 5 people chasing him and he would somehow just magic the shit out of everyone and just completely disappear from us.
