My thoughts exactly but then it occurs to me that we're talking about a Paladin after all and it just feels wrong. Maybe it's a labeling thing or the fact that Jaheira is a good 120 years older than we last met her. Lore-wise her Fighter side comes from participating in Harper business with Khalid I guess. I don't think it's too far-fetched to think she'd rely more on her Druid (caster) side with age, especially as the head of an organization that mostly consists of fighters and rangers. I feel Land druid is actually a good default option for her but surely not the closest to her original Fighter/Druid class.

I agree with the premise but I'm not sure if the emphasis is still the same. Do you still see her tanking in the front line while being surrounded by young ones who just beat Ketheric? What I found interesting is how her go-to fighting method (Ice Storm then Wild Shape into Panther) didn't include any melee in human form. I only saw her using her Scimitars as an NPC during Opportunity Attacks.

This makes sense from a practical POV (she gets a separate HP bar as a Panther) but I feel leadership plays a more pivotal part here. She's a living legend who still wants to lead by example, plus she probably knows her troops are mediocre fighters with even worse survival chances. This is absolutely not the case with your party. Her willingness to take a backseat to you also shows lack of ego and adaptability.

Traders outside of the Lower City are just not worth to invest into, right? I'm operating under the assumption that once you've done everything in the outskirts you're not expected to come back at all.

I still have Jaheira on her post-recruitment level 1, so all it'd take is 400G per trader to max their Attitude out. I'm okay doing this with one or at max two, but all of them feels cheap and over the top.

You should. IIRC maxed out Attitude means 50% lower selling and 50% higher buying prices. The trick is that it gets more expensive with each level up. Investing into Act 1 traders who's returning later is well worth on the long run. Dammon is the pinnacle of this as he sells items you probably want anyways in each Act. Mattis, Derryth and Blurg can also be candidates. Or basically any traders where you'd spend big money, though to maximize the ROI you should return to them on the regular to get your money back by selling them stuff. Remember, they'll offer the best prices anyways.

This is interesting. My Wyll has +8 Persuasion (18 CHA) which grants him a 47% discount at a trader with 0 Attitude. Jaheira (I'm stuck with her since Attitude is tied to character and she's the only one at Level 1) starts at +1 Per (12 CHA) and only reaches the same discount with 100% Attitude plus that Sovereign amulet (+2 to Persuasion for 10 Turns). And all this costs me 400G. Maxing out the Attitude "only" grants 32%. Just for the sake of comparison: Wyll gets 108% off under the same conditions. Not exactly what I expected.

The shy little kid who likes flowers and cute little pets could have plausibly survived repeated mind wipes. Shadowheart doesn't even need to be special for this to be true. You're free to roll your eyes at how the Nightsong scene plays out, but ultimately, how Shadowheart is convinced in the moment is a narrative choice, not a logical oversight. This is like the Frodo meme where you ask why the giant eagles didn't fly the Ring to Mordor. Because we would have no story arc had that been the case.

Tip for anyone trying WotR: Start on Normal, you can change difficulty at any time even mid-combat. There's also a page of custom settings for you to play in a way that is fun for you.

"Core" I would say is a bit more difficult than BG3 "Tactician". You see, most games give gaymers some ass-pats in their naming of difficulty settings. "Fucking Not For Babies" mode where it should be "Anyone with a minimally working brain" etc.
All that to say, if you're interested in WotR, start on Normal, even if you *wow* beat BG3 on """Tactician""".

If you're familiar enough with 3.5 or PF I'd recommend just playing core and maybe tweaking some of the more nonsensical settings like the weather mechanics down.
The only reason to spend any time on that game in my opinion is if you really want a DnD simulator to kill time with, so there's really no sense in playing higher difficulties, whether you can handle them or not.
