can someone give recommendations?
not rpg's but social roleplaying games, and don't even care if its light/fun rp. i played on an rp server 25 years ago (graal), during vanilla wow, and light rp in gmod but prefer more fantasy/medieval themes.
is gta rp/rdr2 rp the best that's out there or are there other good communities?
i tried rp in turtle wow and it was esl city. Retail wow and epsilon was mostly smut fiction so i'm not sure where to look at next for a fun community.
disappointed with the wow rp experiences that i'm just going back to AI rp because people either play main character demigods, flake out, esfail, or its 100% smutified.
starting to believe rp games are doomed to the purgatory of idling while waiting for events. is this fantasy, or is there something out there?

Yeah, I'd recommend asking on /v/. Why do you people keep dumping request threads on this board? It's slow as fuck, you guys know this before making the thread, but then you end up abandoning it anyway after a day or two, even if someone replies. It's the same thing with all these spammed advertisements for empty minecraft anarchy servers.

You'd have better luck asking on /v/, and I don't know why you people don't ask there in the first place when you'd most likely get a reply with the hour.

Morrowind has some tes3mp roleplaying servers that I rather enjoy. TOR has some large roleplaying guilds but I've never played with one so I can't vouch for quality, and I've also seen Project Zomboid roleplay servers but likewise I've never played on one so you'd have to do your own research

If you want freedom of expression: Space station 13

If you want fantasy: nwn mod scene, divinity original sin 2 mod scene, FFXIV, maybe BDO etc basic MMOs.

If you want military/war: Foxhole
If you want horror: Barotrauma

Struggle to find any these days. I think probably the best bet is to find a group of people you like and play some TTRPGs. Unmoderated RP vidya just gets spammed by trolls and the moderated places I've found are overrun by gothic vampire lesbians and furfags who have no respect for setting.
