For those who are not using mods yet and are interested in doing so:
You'll have to download BepInEx first and then just install the mods you want (most of them can be found in Thunderstore). Using the ModLoader to install everything from Thunderstore should be easy enough.
To install it manually, drag and drop all of BepInEx's files into the game's main folder, open the game once and close it. BepInEx should have generated new folders inside its main folder after that, and one is named 'plugins'. Just the mods' unzipped folders inside plugins and that should be it.

Popular mods:

Lets you edit the max/min capacity of body sliders, adds a command to change your character's size and other miscellaneous stuff. Its beta release also adds a few new emotes.
>Homebrewery
Allows to add new armor pieces for vanity purposes, new dyes and new consumables with custom effects. Although it comes with a few items by itself, so you'll need to add more stuff from other mods.
It also adds a new cellphone feature that allows to change your physical appearance (free of charge) and check Spike's on the spot. Either download it from Thunderstore or from the Mega pack (which already includes almost every armor pieces ever made, but it's an older version which not allows custom meshes for the sake of fast loading.)

Haven't played since around January or so, though it's cool to see there's still a small community surrounding the game. Is there anything to do past the Grove yet, or have people really been sitting in Sanctum and occasionally PvPing for half a year?
Feels like the game's inertia faded after just a month, once it became readily apparent there wasn't going to be anything new to sink your teeth into for god knows how long. Solodev woes, I guess.
Maybe it released onto Steam too early for its own good. Or maybe the Steam launch was the perfect window to capitalize on the brief resurgence of online social space-style vidya, and it ended up getting more sales than it otherwise would have due to it. Who's to say there.

My quick ideas were a mystic with a heavy melee/sword (is there a scythe that is 'endgame'?) and/or fighter with Katars. I mean that isn't exactly what I would play. Poltergeist Scythe is the closest to it. But it's more about mid game, I believe. Fighters with katars suck if I recall correctly, but I don't know about PvE. I think anything works well enough if you give it a serious try, really.

Transmutating the weapons was extremely niche and very worth it. Mind weapons give a + to magick attack and if you transmute a sword you lose the sword's +atk as it isn't converted over. Transmuting will make a weapon weaker by default. As well, spread shot or execute worked off their respective main weapon's original attribute.

On second thought, I don't think this is that bad for Mystics. Sure, Fluxbolt is ruined and Fluxclaw is not really a replacement for it (kinda too low damage). But if you're using elemental stuff, it turns out somewhat decent. It's forcing you to try to diversify you skillset, which is neat but annoying at first.
That being said, having a normal option without elemental advantage or disadvantage should be really nice. I don't mind much if Fluxbolt deals less damage or its mana cost gets higher, but giving it a time cast that is as long as your healing is insane, because the game doesn't really give you much time frame to deal with the crowd. Having to depend on elemental shit gets annoying, because even if Cyra might be neat (i.e you can cast it without waiting a hour while doing so and after it, and it has decent hitboxes), the rest of elemental magic skills not as much imo rn.
