I hate it because portals are almost useless compared to the original, and the addition of classes and loadouts take away from the pick up and play arcade-vibe of the first. They simplified and homogenized the game so it lost its uniqueness. It's just generic shooter # 9999 now, and it doesnt do anything better than it's competition.

Does the original support any sort of offline play?

Even just LAN matches or loading up an empty multiplayer map yourself?

I'll say this as someone who never played Splitgate 1 but portals are damn near useless, I never use them or see them used in both the BR and the deathmatch modes. That said the Aereo or whatever class just blows every other class out of the water, their ability just makes you a fuckin bat outta hell with a 5 second cooldown and the better weapons out of the 3 classes (tied with the orange guys, I guess)

Alright you split-tards, clearly all of you can't use for portals for shit, mostly because bots don't use them strategically. Let me list out some situation portals are great for in splitgate 2 you spiggers.

- Shoot through portal, kinda blurry, but gives a great vantage point to snipe other at, or quickly shoot behind another.
- Traveling through it is a lot faster than walking to point A and B
-Momentum traveling through portals can make you go really fast and get to place quickly
-Portals are a quick get away from a player if you are being chased without ammo

I love this game, movement feels like a mix of Tribes and something else I can't quite put my finger on. You build up some insane speed downhill though, I've been practising just doing laps around the maps with a mix of portals and slope sliding.

I played the first splitgate. I know how they work and how to use them effectively. The point still stands that they drastically lessened the amount of portalable walls, limited the amount of verticality in maps which hampers the usefulness of portal momentum jumping, and also removed the ability to destroy enemy portals without putting your own portal on top of it.

Compared to the original, it fucking sucks. I'm not even going to go into the bullshit of making the game a battle royale.

SG2 gives me LawBreakers vibes, i really loved that game until it died.

> kind of edgy marketing stunts
> somehow lack of mass appeal while still being somewhat generic
> mechanically best arena FPS gameplay on the market anyway
> (probably) dies in a few months because ppl didnt give it a chance

Portals still (even if toned down from the first one) add mindbending depth and an insane skillceiling to the game, and they got the guns and movement to feel just right. It like an actual good modern Halo game after the complete disaster that was Infinite.

I think the biggest mistake is not catering to the CoD slop playerbase thats addicted to the constant level-go-up-unlock-new-shit artificial dopamine fix with AA turned to the max and continous cycle of overpowered weapons in the new battlepass or event to chase just to get nerfed a few weeks later. omg im so over this BS.

Imma play it until its inevitable death since its the most fun i had in FPS in LITERAL YEARS. But i got some hope for a small community to stay since its F2P and got a server browser.

Like the shooting, the portals are pretty fun. First game was a bit better, but I don't think the casuals will notice because the shooting itself is still really good. The guns feel really good. Will plays until it dies out. I feel like the game still lacks an it factor. Reminds me of The Finals or Shatterline where both games play fine but there is not much of a reason to play them. Also, I feel like its harder to make good maps due to figuring out where to put the portal walls.
