I'm just hoping that the devs eventually make it so that emplacements will actually attack people outside the base border, otherwise I'll have to create a new base that has a killing corridor that invaders have to run through first.

honestly i have no idea. ever since putting it up i have yet to get a raid from that direction. It's actually really close to the boundary; I'm hoping that in the future the devs will make it so that pals will actually shoot at enemies outside of the base perimeter rather than only doing anything once they're in.
i wish i could stick a vietnam era army helmet and a bandolier on her though. for some reason she just looks badass on the gun.

on a semi-related note, it appears that the m2 holds 200 rounds. Unfortunately, if you scrap the turret, the ammo is lost. There also appears to be a bug where if a pal has taken the ammo from a crate, but you can't see it actually carrying the ammo, if you cancel the assignment, that ammo is also lost forever.
haven't tested if different pals carry different amounts, but in the initial test, katress ignis took 200 rounds out of the crate.

handiwork level doesn't affect damage at all. their base attack stat is what matters, with bellanoir being the best since she has 150 (funny that I decided to pick her just cuz she looked cool). anubis, orserk and bushi noct all come in second at 130 attack.
As such, attack boosting passives will be useful here.

also decided to test this, transporting doesn't seem to matter as they all just load 200 rounds into the gun at once no matter if it's a lamball, or a wumpo.
If the food box is far away from their post, it might be somewhat useful having one of the speed passives so they spend less time away from it, but raids don't really happen that often anyway so probably not something to worry about.

I think the lore on Palpagos geography and ancient civ tech is still vague enough that cross-dimensional/temporal stuff could be thrown in to explain Terraria's inclusion and also open the door for other things.
If there is new lore I'd expect Terraria elements to be treated as an anomaly and not something deeply tied to things like faction politics/pal lore/calamity/etc.

Hypothetically, what would happen if you explicitly made crossover content a keystone of your worldbuilding and something happened to burn the bridge with that IP?

ehhhh combat isn't so terrible, the closest game to compare to is ARK and ARK's player combat is utter dogshit, floaty weapons with no feedback, meanwhile here it's the opposite, the weapons have some oomph to them. Personally, I find it way easier to simply breed for better IVs. I have triple 100s breeding with triple 100s way before I get 4 passives I actually want. Then I just polish off any odd numbers with random fruits I get from raids, bounties, etc.

How does everyone feel about the Terraria collabs? I think it's starting to get a little intrusive.

I can understand borrowing a little name recognition from Terraria, but with multiple weapons, enemies, Moon Lord etc, it's starting to stretch my disbelief.

Palworld tries to take itself seriously with its lore and setting, and then a bunch of wacky stuff turns up. It's not even like SMT where it's a multiverse premise that can excuse such stuff.

I could understand this it's almost like if Pokémon did a collab with Beyblade it wouldn't make sense i'm wondering what could've been a better crossover but in my honest opinion i think they should focus on QoL and Quest & story

It's a wonder that the Croajiro who brought Meowmere from "a distant land" was able to leave the World Tree/Palpagos Islands' trap in the first place, so I'm inclined to believe spacetime excuses are on the table and would line up with some of what we already know. There's an Isekai Cop who can summon Pizza from thin air on demand, if you can believe it.
I do think it'd be weird for Terraria to be a major factor in Palworld's lore by name, but I wouldn't be bothered if an unusual island's presence was used as a way to expand upon the setting's weird geography. Maybe there'll be journals on those islands and some allusions in palpedia entries, though I'd really like to see more lore delivered well via gameplay and environmental elements.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. If they allow like a trigger to disable collab or cross over events, it seems possible considering that in the animated trailer it showed that the Terraria world could be just its own instance in the overworld. Maybe a new map? So you have to cross a door to get to the crossover content. So in theory it would not be a default experience for Palworld if it is disabled, or if you don't find that entrance.

Honestly, what they'll probably do is have the Terraria event start like how you start events in Terraria itself. The table is a level 36 normal technology unlock, and it seems like you get to pick which passive you want and it only requires gold to do.
However... it seems to have a preset list of traits you can pick and then inject onto your pal. You can't transfer or add just any trait you want, only those from the list. And none of them are blue-tier passives. It's been 6 months, half a year, since Feybreak. Terraria is the new content. You can catch new water pals, but Terraria is the new place to go, Moon Lord is the new boss. If you ignore Terraria the update is 6 months for some quality of life, sleeping animations, and 10 new pals.
It also very obviously means they're going to be doing collabs in the future, filling more and more of the game world with them. "Oh, lets go to the Terraria island, let's go to the Temtem island, lets go to the Stardew Valley island!" I think this is reductive and overlooks things visible in patch notes like the overhauled arena, strengthened water pal niche, NPC content and dungeon changes to name a few. It's still early and remains to be seen how long this content will last compared to Feybreak which had the handicap of a heinous endgame loot grind.

In my experience playing a story heavy game like FF14 from ARR to Endwalker, I've never felt collab side raids like The Hunt For Rathalos or YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse mixed into roulette took away from my ability to immerse in the basegame's world and narrative. It wasn't treated as integral and I find it simple enough to recognize and isolate things that don't belong in the core context (to an extent).

I would share some of your sentiment if there were wild terraria enemies mixed in heavily with pal spawns around the map, or written to have major plot significance.

Towns have more people in them, more unique npcs, structures updated to look more lived in with personal touches. They also now have pals living with them. Thank fucking Christ. I couldn't stand how dead the world looked. This update was really good.

It's pretty good and mostly about sprucing up leveling content. Only downside is not as much sticking around for endgame like in Feybreak but it's a good step for fleshing out the overall experience.

No. Zoe&Grizzbolt get added as a single pal to your party after you do her quests. You can catch her(just as Zoe/no Grizzbolt) anytime before you complete them or after. Assuming they don't change it to make her uncatchable like they did her boss version at a later date

The missions seem to give a good bit of xp, at least the later main ones. Is it a viable way to level, besides just capturing a hundred pals?

Seems they broke something with some pals getting up. Wumpo Botans for example consistently fall through the floor when they try to get up after being knocked down by jetragon's rockets.
Pretty annoying actually because that's the typical way to weaken a pal while riding him since everything else causes a burn

I see on Paldb that his swim speed is 1800. I think passives stack additively, so with the new swim passives that's 50%+40%+30%+30%(swift), or 150%. Paldb says its partner skill adds another 25% (not sure if this is additive too or multiplicative), so 175% total, or 3150 total speed.
IIRC Jetragon is 3300 base even before movement speed passives come into play, so he's still the fastest by far, it seems. But Neptilius is definitely the best for going around to collect stuff in the water.

So what's probably the best set for a battle-focused Neptilius? Demon God/Serenity are a given, and Lunker is probably just better than Legend for him since I don't see the movespeed mattering. I dismissed Palworld at first cause I thought it'd be a cheap Pokemon clone, then I realized it's ARK but with Pokemon, and now I have 300 hours and counting because ARK ate shit and died and this is a good replacement.

My condensed and 4 passive bred full soul Petallia and Lunaris were beating legendaries in the launch version (lv50 levelcap). In Feybreak legendaries got so trivial my condensed 4 passive full soul Splatterina was soloing them (lv60 levelcap) so the stat gap got even smaller.

I thought the unity/early trailers were lame and suspiciously reliant on staged looking clips, sort of like the clones that are popping up now. To me it was the silly firearms and Pokemon sado-slavery meme game up until the more refined unreal gameplay trailers started circulating.
At launch I bought it, binged to 50 and got bored of base building after something like 100-200 hours. May of that year I gave multiplayer a try on NA2 when /pal/ was a /vg/ general and am now pushing 3k.
Before this I'd play Pokemon now and then, gens 1-5+7 and challenge romhacks. I have little interest in modern releases developed or stifled by GF but would eagerly play a good Pokemon game from a developer who has the freedom to do it justice.

Only that time doesn't stop when you log off, you can't place viewing cages or adjust world settings like global palbox without the host's approval. Achievements unlock as normal and it's mostly the same as singleplayer with some advantages.
Your experience with other players depends on server culture, and /pal/ has been pretty great in that regard compared to official servers.
Saves have been stable and any half-decent server host will keep incremental backups to roll back to in case something goes wrong.
